Overview
About Me
Hey there! I’m Arvin — 32 years old, born in beautiful Kurdistan (Iran 🇮🇷), and currently exploring life at the other end of the world: New Zealand 🇳🇿 — the land of sheep, kiwis, and pure beauty.
I put patients to sleep in the operating room as an anesthesia nurse, helping them enjoy the deepest naps of their lives 😴. But my true passion is teaching, and I’m also a chess coach and a professional player♟️.
I love traveling, meeting curious humans, tasting all kinds of food, and soaking up new cultures. I believe the world is a classroom — and I’m here to collect stories, local secrets, laughs, friendships, and unforgettable experiences.
Let’s share life, a coffee (or tea), and one awkward cultural moment at a time 😄🌍☕️
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Moving to New Zealand opened up a whole new world of people, stories, and cultures — and I want to be part of it all!
Couchsurfing feels like the perfect place to connect, learn, and maybe even dance a little with strangers-turned-friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
I’m a huge fan of Persian and Kurdish literature — it feels like reading the soul of a 5,000-year-old culture.
I absolutely love the Harry Potter series (yes, I’m still waiting for my Hogwarts letter 🧙♂️).
When it comes to music, Kurdish songs are full of life and energy — they make your feet move and your heart feel something ancient and deep.
I also love traditional Persian music — it’s poetic, calming, and feels like meditation for the soul.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Moving to New Zealand!
Talk about a culture shock — from Persian tea to flat whites, from overly polite “no-you-go-first” moments (we call it “tarof” 😅) to the chilled-out “sweet as, bro!” Kiwi vibes
Nothing feels the same… and that’s exactly what makes it amazing. 🇳🇿✨
Teach, Learn, Share
I can cook you something delicious (or at least interesting) from Iran, share some soulful Persian or Kurdish tunes, and tell stories that might make you say “Wait, really?”
And yes — I can teach you chess… but I won’t promise to go easy on you 😈♟️
