About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel. Travel. Travel.

ABOUT ME

I am Arvin Romel Fernandez, a Filipino university student taking up Applied Corporate Management in De La Salle University and currently an exchange student in Daejeon University, South Korea.

If you are wondering what my Major is, its actually a Business Administration with specialization in multination companies. This means that I had several internship stints. These are Citibank NA - Philippines, Kraft Foods Philippines, Korean National Commission for UNESCO and I'm looking forward for my next internship stint by June 2012.

Aside from those, I'm actively involve in an NGO outreach activities. I've joined 2 summer workcamps in a row from 2008-2009 in different provinces in the Philippines and hosted the 2010 summer workcamp in my hometown. We refurbished public school classrooms and installed insulars, painted school buildings (2-storey building) and churches (roof of the church. under the heat of the sun for a week).

This is just a glimpse of who I am. Both ends of the spectrum. Involve in outreach activities with huge sacrifices and have been part of some prestigious organizations. This means I can get along with different types of people with different walks of like :)

PHILOSOPHY

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to meet people living in South Korea. And I'm looking forward to attend CS activities organized here. Hopefully, I can be very active and at the same time join the activities around the world when I travel and when CSurfers would visit my place ;]

Looking forward for all the activities! :D

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't participated any official CouchSuring experience. But I'm looking forward to try soon :)

However, for the unofficial CouchSurfing, I've stayed in my friends house every time I travel, whether local or international.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I love to watch filipino movies. Even if I'm in Korea, I keep on downloading local movies and keep myself updated. For hollywood films, I prefer action movie or romantic comedy. For other genres, I would just go with the flow. If my friends would watch it, then I'll watch it as well.

Music: Still filipino songs. Love Songs. Slow Songs. Pop.

Books: I don't read books (novels) that much. I would rather read traveling books and self-help books. And of course, reference books and books needed in school.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For Catholics, I saw Pope Benedict XVI personally and very close during the Holy Week in 2010. I attended the Way of the Cross on Good Friday and the Easter Vigil Mass celebrated by His Holiness. I met him for the 2nd time in Madrid during the World Youth Day (Jornada Mundial de la Juvented) 2011. I cannot believe to see him in person!

I've tried all EXTREME RIDES in the Theme Parks I've visited:
Everland, South Korea: T Express. Rolling X Train.
Clarke Quay, Singapore: Reverse Bungee Jumping.
Universal Studios, Singapore: Battlestar Galactica: Cyclone&Human.
Ocean Park, Hong Kong: Abyss Turbo Drop. The Dragon. Mine Train.
Genting Highland, Malaysia: Space Shot. Flying Coaster.
Enchanted Kingdom, Philippines: Space Shuttle.
Star City, Philippines: Star Flyer. Surf Dance.

Tokyo Disneyland. Hong Kong Disneyland.

Since I've tried all Extreme Rides, this means that I've also tried almost all the other rides in the Theme Park, depending on my time availability.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: My language. I'm a foreigner in Korea so I can teach Filipino language to anyone who wants to learn.

Learn: Different languages. I'm very open to learn new language.

Share: My ideas about the countries I visited. The ADVENTURES and CHALLENGES.

Cambodia, China, Italy, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, Viet Nam
