Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have really enjoyed hosting in the past, and am excited that I will be able to get back to doing that and showing people around! It has been great to be involved with community events, and to(now) have attended a Couch Crash. I'm hoping for the chance to do more and learn more. I am excited about the opportunity to have people over, and discover the surrounding area with couchsurfers. It is great to be able to experience surfing and seeing the areas I have been visiting through my hosts and other CS people I have been meeting. I have been loving all of it and the wonderful new friends I have made.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had my first couch surfing experience(11/11) when I went to visit Columbus OH. I had a great time with the people that I stayed with, and my whole trip was so much richer. It has been great to host several Couchsurfers now from different parts of the country and overseas. Every experience hosting has been positive and enriching. It has also been great to be an active part of the Pittsburgh Couchsurfing community; with potlucks, festivals and all kinds of activities, there is always something to do.
I've done a Beach Crash, a Couch Crash
Interests
I love cooking, experiencing new foods, new places, museums, art, history, theater, books, road trips, tea in the afternoon, coffee in the morning. I've loved my times of camping. I did some more extensive trips of camping and backpacking in college. I've been doing many years now (I particularly like Swing Dance),I have been involved with community issues( Public transportation and getting more funding for arts) and events. I really have an interest in learning more about sustainable living, permaculture and organic farming (there so so much to learn). I've gotten more into photography.
I can also say a big interest is, water. I love being by the water- both salted and unsalted. I love doing water sports, I love just hearing the sound of the waves or even the gentle sound of the rain.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really love books,I recently relented and got ebooks for my phone and tablet. I am so happy that I did! I have been enjoying some wonderful fiction, as well as non fiction. With Roadtrips I have been making use of audio books, and have fallen in love with Neil Gaiman, as well as Bill Bryson.
Also, I have been exploring more genres of music and new artists. I found that Newgrass is quite nice. I really enjoy music, and find each genre had something to offer.
As for movies- I enjoy Science Fiction, Action, Fantasy, Suspense, Foreign, Indie, Drama and Comedy.
I love Downton Abbey, House Of Cards, Fear The Walking Dead, Walking Dead, Arrow, DareDevil, Flash, Gotham, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul...
For movies, I have enjoyed the ones that made me laugh as well as the ones that made me really think.
One movie I have particularly enjoyed, is 'Momento'
I also love The Holy Grail and find I am quoting lines from it as well as The Princess Bride.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm not sure that I've seen any one amazing thing or even met just one amazing person. I am so grateful for all the places that I have been and for all the people that have come into my life, make it so much richer. I think that experience of hosting so many wonderful people would be listed as amazing.
One thing that I got to do recently that was amazing to me and made a big impact on my life, was being part of the ATC crew.
A recent kind of cool( possibly amazing) thing I did was to do a camping trip in the desert by myself.
Also, going on a retreat at a Buddhist Monastery ( one night being at the top of the mountain and watching the full moon rise)
Teach, Learn, Share
I like learning about people's experiences of culture, travel, faith. I love to hear someone's perspective of the world and how they have gotten to where they are. It is great to be able to have those times with people where you can have wonderful in depth conversations, and then pause for a moment, and share laughter; not feeling a need to put up walls and be anything but who you are.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share cooking and recipes as well as an open mind and heart.
Maybe how to build water logs and steps from logs :p
Perhaps even teach or encourage Swing Dancing
