Whenever I travel anywhere I try to couchsurf. It is easy, cheap, and you meet such great people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed once in Chicago Heights, IL. It was a great experience and really enlightened me as to how nice total strangers can be.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of Edward Said's works. I'm interested in Arab-American literature, and I recently finished "The Lost City of Z," which was great. I like jazz, funk, afrobeat, rock, soul, and hip-hop. Many movies too. Some good movies I've seen: The Truman Show, There Will Be Blood, Man on Wire, The Motorcycle Diaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been in the Oriente of Ecuador along the Tiputini River.

I want to learn how to go fishing with a wooden spear, and I know a couple things about regular fishing, US foreign policy and history, molecular/cellular biology, and English literature
