About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live for a living

ABOUT ME

I just recently finished my schooling (including kindergarten I've been in school 18 years straight!) Well now I feel an overwhelming surge of freedom and that it's about time that I experience what this beautiful world has to offer both the people and places.

PHILOSOPHY

I strive to be human, I live as well as I know how (but truthfully I don't know what that even means yet)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd like to get connected with cool people who have similar values. Also apparently I'm a "radically intense" cyclist. This is my friends'description. Basically I like to travel everywhere by bike...it's fun, people think you're cool and it's fossil fuel free which is pretty wicked! Additionally and potentially most importantly it's free (besides the massive amount of food you consume) :P

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had many experiences on people's coaches but it's never planned. Instead I usually meet people on the road that have a place to stay or some people open their hearts and homes for me when it's pouring rain and I have no place to stay. I was thinking it may be a good plan to have a plan on at least one of my trips.

Interests

Sustainable transportation i.e., biking :), environmental and social justice issues, spoken word (poetry), theatre, music...good music, growing and cooking food, guerrilla gardening, beautifying spaces through bringing back native species of plants...I'm a biology nerd (I do teach the stuff!)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:Honestly I usually only watch documentaries, things like Flow and the 11th hour etc. but a quality film I saw recently was La Belle verte, Life is beautiful is also one of my favourites.
Music:Joel plaskett, Ani DiFranco, Regina Spektor, Patrick Watson, Jill Barber.
Books: I read a lot of books about what's happening in the world right now and solutions to these problems. Like Earth Democracy, Eaarth, Transforming power, Biomimicry

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Biked across Ontario with a group of 19 amazing people with the Otesha project where we performed a play about environmental and social justice issues to elementary and high school students across Ontario...lots of biking!

Teach, Learn, Share

Food: where is comes from, how to grow it, how to cook it
Holistic health practices for mind and body (I am a phys. ed teacher)
Geurrilla Gardening (don't tell anyone :P): The importance of integrating native plants into our landscape again, making seedballs! Seedballs are really cooler then they sound.
A host of environmental stuff going on...
Last but not least JUGGLING!
