If you’re after a quick snapshot of Ash – I'm ash and I'm caring, connected, adventurous, outgoing, open, friendly, respectful, willing to try new things, a rock climber, an engineer, into acroyoga, a deep listener, passionate about human consciousness development and loving towards family, friends, nature and the great outdoors - always up for a good time. 🌱✨🔥💕🙏
and for the proper version… ☺
Hey there and thanks for having a read of the below and perhaps having a little snip into who Ash is…
I find it interesting to try and explain who I am with words…because I get more of a feeling from photos and by meeting someone…anyway here it goes… ☺
So I’m Ash, from an island off mainland Australia called Tasmania (Tassie). I actually grew up in Melbourne but I now call Tasmania home, and a beautiful home it is – I really do love it in Tassie.
I’ve lived in Tasmania for 5 years and in October 2019 I decided to take a courageous step and start the process of leaving everything I knew, worked for and loved for a new quest. A quest, come new found passion, to grow my own consciousness so that I may live a more fulfilling, fruitful and nurturing life of authenticity, love, playfulness and presence. Honestly, this is probably the most courageous decision I’ve ever made to head off, without much of a plan and trust that I have all knowledge and skills to create something new.
In Tassie, when I was working, I worked as an electrical engineer (control systems specifically) within the Hydro power sector where my intellectual, organisational and practical skills were challenged. This was complimented with my love for deep human connection/conversation, nature, the wilderness and outdoor activities including multiday hiking in remote locations, acroyoga (partner acrobatics), scaling cliffs (rock climbing).
It’s not uncommon for me to set off on a multiday solo hike and I may only see a few people, maybe one or maybe none…yet the connection and energy that nature provides is something I’m only beginning to feel.
Rock climbing adventures range from heading outdoors after work with friends to the local crag or all day (and perhaps overnight) adventures…for me although I enjoy climbing, I use it more as a tool to get to unique places where I feel grounded, connected or simply present.
Acroyoga…wow, this activity completely changed my world when I discovered it back in 2018. A fusion of acrobatics, thai massage and yoga…although more like partner acrobatics in its more advanced form is a place I find physical challenges and a new way of human connection. The non verbal communication and trust involved for me creates an activity where I can allow myself to be vulnerable, supported, challenged and present all at the same time.
My strong connection to nature, the environment and our planet has also led me to become very conscious about the waste I contribute to land fill, becoming vegetarian (except for bin rescuing) and promoting the protection of old growth forests which hold some of the most beautiful energy I’ve ever been around.
Traveling to ‘check out’ new places and visit all the big tourist locations doesn’t nurture me and hence I’d rather get off the beaten track, into the greenery and/or places of interhuman connection…and having said all that I do LOVE live music, especially folk. I love the playfulness, joy and lack of seriousness associated with music jams.
If I were to use some qualities to describe myself they would look something like present, playful, caring, adventurous, deep listener, respectful, vegetarian, open, honest, authentic, outgoing
Connection used to be my highest value which underpins a lot of my life motivation. Connection with fellow humans and/or nature is when I'm most fulfulled ✨ I am changing my highest value for love as I believe that's even more potent <3
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A few reasons – the one that resonates the most is the feeling of genuinely getting to know locals, connecting, communicating and sharing stories. I have met some amazing people through couchsurfing that have become friends and we still stay in touch.
Being invited into someone else’s home, and hence their life, for a moment is an experience which can’t be compared to non personalized accommodation like hostels, airbnbs and hotels this is the gold. And the cherry on top is the fact that the transaction is of energy and not money.

Music, Movies, and Books
Honestly I’m not great with names and don’t define myself through music, movies and books – my knowledge is so low in these areas I struggle and yet I’ll describe what I do know.
Music – Live and folk music is what I like most. I love hearing music played by friends and would love to learn myself. Generally I’m pretty chill around other types of music except for music that’s heavily electronically modified.
Books – well honestly the only books I’ve been reading of late are on self reflection and developmental growth…yep, that’s me. I usually don’t read, not as a hobby anyways.
Movies – Again, I don’t watch many movies these days…I’d rather be doing something else than watching a movie except if it’s a way to connected and relax with a fellow human, than I’m all for it ☺
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
scuba diving and looking eye to eye with a giant turtle on the ocean floor
Coming a bit too close to a feeding lioness and 2 cubs
Solo hiking in remote Tasmania 😊
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share what I know about human consciousness and where my passion lies. I can share deep listening and the struggles I’ve found and trying to overcome such as eye contact and feel another person’s energy.
Sharing or teaching hard skills such as slacklining, rock climbing, juggling or acroyoga is what I probably know most…also kombucha, cooking or travel stories ☺
What I Can Share with Hosts
A meal, drink, playfulness, acroyoga, deep presence, silence, listening, activity, banter and/or any of those…ask me anything ;)
