About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm fairly friendly, relaxed and optimistic (although I do have a dark sense of humour!). I'm taking time away from studying for a fair while to work, travel, and enjoy life in the carefree ways that twenty-somethings are wont to do.

I finished my Masters in Feb 2012, which examined how brains process repetitive sounds, comparing musicians with non-musicians! (That exclamation mark was to make it sound interesting if you're not generally inclined to find such things interesting.) Contemplating PhD, but no rush.

PHILOSOPHY

Oh, heaps. Here's one, as an apéritif:
I try to prepare for the worst, have realistic expectations, and hope/aim for the best.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Interested in doing some more hosting in Auckland, friends with a number of couchsurfy people, and staying with couchsurfers when travelling myself!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have hosted someone once in Auckland, which was great! I also have a number of friends in the couchsurfing community.

Interests

Books! Music and movies as well. I love meeting people with interesting and diverse tastes.

I love food, good conversation, studying interesting topics, fire spinning (poi and whips performance, mainly), music (flute and extremely beginner guitar), and odd pursuits such as origami, martial arts, and Braille reading.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmm... a lot of my more 'transcendental' moments involve books and music.

Some amazing concerts: Sigur Ros, Portishead, Massive Attack, Radiohead.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can play with poi, whips, and flute (plus basic didgeridoo). Poi are easy to make with socks and tennis balls/bags of rice, but I can only show you the other stuff if you have it yourself, if I'm not hosting!

Would be cool to learn circus stuff, if you happen to do aerials, pole, or anything like that! Also guitar, show me guitar!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, China, Russian Federation, Singapore, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand
