One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I journeyed to Panama, teaching business skills and working with communities to better their lives so they could have the prospects of sending their children to school. I trekked through South America to explore the kaleidoscopic culture so passionate and so in tune with its feelings. I painted murals on the walls of Valparaiso, Chile, assimilating myself with their colorful lives. I climbed the ruins of Machu Picchu, reliving the stories of the past civilizations and understanding our roots in society. I relished the unearthly taste of Argentinian meat and wine. I came to know friends from all corners of the earth united with that same purpose of discovery of what this world is made of. I came to learn the slight nuances between the different tongues of a singular language. I voyaged to India to gain a more worthy discernment of a family and culture that truly belonged to me yet one that I had never fully appreciated or come to know. I trekked the Great Wall, discovered the secrets of the Forbidden City, and bamboo rafted down a river surrounded by karst mountains, which I later rock climbed in China, discovering the beauty of ancient and natural world. I navigated my way through the streets of Nairobi, learning about how business is conducted. I felt the wind blow all my worries away as I stood in a jeep and roamed Serengeti National Park seeing the circle of life.
