ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty outgoing, social and energetic individual with a vast desire to travel around the world and really experience all that the different countries and cultures have to offer. I'm a Sri Lankan born New Zealander currently living in Auckland. I love to meet people from all over the world and am always ready to give anything a go with my whole heart.

PHILOSOPHY

I think that happiness in life comes with all the relationships that you have whether it is with your friends or your family or your partner. I think that there are a lot of people in this world who are unhappy when they have no reason to be unhappy, but at the same time there are lots of people who are happy when they have little reason to be. Life is all about your perspectives and the happiest people in life are always not those who have the most but rather the people who make the most of what they have! As such I think it is so very important to make the most of every day and to live life to the fullest, because there are so many people who have much more than you do, but there are many many more people who have so much less!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Thus far my participation has predominantly been with regard to attending the regular meetups, organising activities and taking couchsurfers around my city. Being almost a local, I was equipped with some local knowledge and had a car so I was able to take people around and show them parts of Australia they might not otherwise get to. In Brisbane, my signature trip was to make sure everyone got to see how beautiful the city lights are from Mount Cootha at night! It has been amazing to revisit these friends as I'm currently travelling around Europe and visiting their home towns!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Most of my friends away from home are couchsurfers or have had some sort of couchsurfing experience in their life. It is so amazing to stumble across a community where everyone has the same passions and the same desires to travel and to meet people from all over the world. To travel differently to the luxury travellers and to really experience countries in their fullest. This is the type of travel that I want to experience and couchsurfing has brought me so far and I look forward to where it will take me in the future. I joined couchsurfing because I really wanted to make European friends before coming over to travel Europe. I realised that if anyone was to come to my home then the things that I would show them are so different to what they would experience as a tourist. This is the side of Europe that I wanted to experience and this is why I thought couchsurfing was such a great idea. I've met and stayed with lots of friends I have met on couchsurfing through meet ups and the like. I am now ready to take the next step and try couchsurfing with people I have never met in person before!

Interests

I love to go on hikes and really experience nature's raw beauty. I love to go driving and to just see where the road takes me. I love finding any excuse to get away from the confines of the normal life to really experience things beyond the ordinary. I love to meet people from all over the world and to talk with strangers just to hear what they have to say. I love food and enjoy eating meals from all parts of the world. I love my friends and family and enjoy all the precious time I've been given to spend with them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been blessed with so many amazing things in my life but the definite highlight would be watching the whole sky light up in green in Iceland during the dance of the auroras. The northern lights showing nature in its unparalleled beauty. Anyone who has seen this knows that they have witnessed something truly amazing.
