ABOUT ME
I used to like adventure, but I prefer home life nowadays. I like beer and whiskey. I'm a western North Carolina native. Mostly quiet. I work in a factory. Worked in many occupations in my life, including:
Plastics manufacturing factory worker, newspaper reporter, newspaper web pressman operating one of those big ass printing presses that take up a whole room, sheet-fed pressman on a tiny printing press for a small job-shop printing business, tree farm worker, greenhouse worker, newspaper advertising assistant, bus boy, waiter, underground power service grunt, RFID factory worker, Census bureau quality control agent, barista, clerical temp, retail worker temp and a couple of days as a paid audience laugher for stupid Hollywood TV shows. Also, I'm a leftist. I am not into spirituality, and I rarely hike or camp. I don't ride a bike. I am not vegan or vegetarian. I have never eaten out of dumpsters. I don't smoke pot.
PHILOSOPHY
Metaphysics: Materialist.
Ethics: Communicative or discursive.
Epistemology: Materialist with a little Kant thrown in.
Aesthetics: Undeveloped.
Social philosophy: Workerist and class reductionist.
Philosophy of science: Vaguely post-positivist.
Philosophy of religion: Atheistic.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted some. Then I took a really long break. Now, I think maybe I will try doing a little hosting again.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was once sleeping on someone's couch and was awakened early one morning by the sound of loud door slams and angry yelling. Fairly quickly thereafter, I heard the host stomp into where I was sleeping and started yelling at me and cursing and telling me to get the fuck off his sofa and get the fuck out of his house. The reason? I had apparently let the cat in by accident, and the cat shat and pissed all over the place for a good part of the night. So, I had to leave, and it was really early. Oh, ...and that person who kicked me out was my brother.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies:
Zombie movies.
Black comedies about dysfunctional families.
Romantic films about incestuous relationships.
Music: Don't listen to much music unless I am at a show. However, when I do listen to recorded music, I listen to:
Paisley underground jangles from the early 1980s.
The XMU, Alt Nation, Spectrum and Faction channels on Sirius.
Books:
Never anything fictional. Short histories on radical labor movements. Short classics on leftist theory.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to college at 28 and graduated with distinction. Helped remodel my house. Helped make a workers' co-operative that is still successful after more than four years, (though I was only there for the first year and a half.) Saw a whale flip its tail up once off the coast when I was in a boat. Got drunk on Bourbon Street during a Mardis Gras before the flood. Drove by myself from North Carolina to Los Angeles once in three days. Cruised the Galapagos Islands. Drank ayahuasca in an Ecuadorian jungle.
