About Me

Hi, I am Ashish! So here are a few things about me. I am from the city of New Delhi, India and just like many others in this community, someone who loves to know and learn about new cultures, meet new people, share stories and listen to theirs. I am part of the team that organizes the biggest management festival in the country! I love dogs and this is something I can't stress enough! At a very young age, I picked up an interest in Magic (might be one of the weirdest things you will hear, I guess) When we meet, I might just show you a couple of magic tricks as well! I am a big fan of Late night, long talks, and always up for those. Quite flexible when I am traveling, it makes up for some of the most fun experiences ever. I am a party neutral person (if that's a category), if we go out to party, I will dance my heart out (though a very bad dancer, if I started thinking about that, I'll have to stop dancing :P) and I am equally thrilled for a nice dinner or a quite roam around the city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Honestly, Couchsurfing for me is all about new people and a unique way to experience and learn about the country. It is a world apart from what a traditional tourist will experience and that style of traveling is a little too bland for my taste if it doesn't help me learn about the people, meet them and make new friends in the new country.

Interests

I love marketing, hence my MBA and I also love playing cricket. I am a huge tv show buff and love tv show marathons. Making friends in various different regions is a thing I find pretty exciting and whenever I see a person from a foreign land struggling in India, I can't help myself and need to help them out. Even if they are not struggling, I love to strike a conversation and make new friends from around the world!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Not that big into music. If I like the song I will listen to it on loop for days until I get tired of it. The songs that stick by are the ones that will stay with me forever.

Movies- I really like shutter island, fight club, inception, interstellar, Harold and Kumar || Desi movies: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (must watch for everyone who loves to travel), 3 idiots and queen! A comedy, thriller, or a romcom, I am all in!

Books- the silence of the lambs, Da Vinci's code, hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, Looking for Alaska, I hate to admit it but I love just rushing through various lonely planet guides :P

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'll just write about a couple, we can discuss and laugh on some of them over a cup of tea or coffee!

1 - Lost 30 pounds to become the best version of myself and change my life for the better. The more fit you are, the more you can travel, that was my philosophy. (My mum still thinks I was doing that for a girl :P)

2. Paragliding in Himachal Pradesh, India. Awesome experience and a must for everyone!

3. River Rafting in the Himalayas and cliff jumping in the river Ganges!

Teach, Learn, Share

One thing that excites me the most when I travel is the culture and the people of that country. I just want to talk to them, understand their way of life, their culture from a first-hand perspective. This is also the reason, the first thing I do in a country is, go to their supermarket. This is what defines travel for me. I also love sharing my own stories, my way of life, have a laugh over the past, stories with ups, downs, crazy, stories about things we remember explicitly as well as the nights we don't remember, this is what brings me here!

What I Can Share with Hosts

good memories and fun stories. Also, I try to ensure I bring something of a souvenir from my own country, as a reminder of the oneness of the world and that we never really far apart (if that makes sense to everyone)

Countries I’ve Visited
