Hey there,

I am Ashley Cain from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Growing up, I was very fortunate to have parents who love to travel. The experiences that they provided me ignited my wanderlust and I have now travelled to 40 countries, completed international exchange programs in 2 countries, and hope to live abroad in my future.

In my spare time, I enjoy listening to podcasts, cycling around new cities and eating delicious food—it is not unusual for me to travel over two hours for a good meal. I enjoy chill nights in and having deep discussions as much as I enjoy rowdy nights out at the bars. I enjoy wandering around big cities equally to trekking mountains or going caving. I genuinely enjoy going with the flow and am always open to new experiences wherever I end up!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I want to discover cities beyond hostel suggestions, Tripadvisor reviews and the other methods that are ruled by tourist recommendations; I want to have a more genuine experience wherever I travel. I want to see how the locals live and eat where the locals eat.

I also love meeting new people and believe Couchsurfing will allow me to meet people that I would not have otherwise.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I listen to a wide variety of music, but mostly hip-hop, rap and r & b. My favourite artists at the moment are J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean and Kanye West. Although I am from Toronto, I am surprisingly not a huge Drake fan.

Movies: My favourite movies are classics. I binge watched many of the IMDB top 100, and found that many of them continue to be my personal favourite movies to this day. Top 3 would be: Silence of the Lambs, Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club.

Books: I'm going to be honest, I am not a huge book worm. Seeing as I have a very short attention span, I tend to listen to podcasts more regularly. My favourite podcasts at the moment are: The Daily, This American Life, Sweet Bobby, and Smartless.
