I'm Ashley, a 22 year old student and of course - I love to travel! I recently changed my major to English so that I could become a travel journalist. I recently started working towards this.

I travel quite a bit and am always staying with friends. I like to stay with people and even in bed and breakfasts rather than in hotels because that's how I get to know the most about an area and the culture of that area. I've enjoyed getting lost places and being almost forced into getting to know the people of that area - some of my best friendships were formed this way! I'm very social and love to meet new people along my journeys. Some friends suggested that I give this a try in pursuit of that. It seems to be especially helpful at the last minute when hotels are all booked up. I'm outgoing, but I am quiet, and I keep spaces clean.

I'm more than willing to have surfers crashing at my place. I have one small dog and my roommate has another, so if you don't mind little furry things vying for your attention it would be a great place to stay. Both me and my roommate are pretty quiet once we're at home (sometimes it's hard to catch us at home at all) but I'd be more than willing to show anyone around town.

I'm new to couch surfing, really hoping that it goes well and something that I can continue doing.

Reading, writing, trying new foods (though I'm really sensitive with spices), anything that has to do with the water.

Jodi Picoult is my favorite author, and I like the Nicholas Sparks movies (except The Notebook, ironically). I like Stephen King's intellectual kind, such as Shawshank and The Body. I guess I'm a kid at heart, but I really like anything that's pretty much "coming-of-age," like SE Hinton's The Outsiders and Now and Then.

I spent two years living on the beach on my own when I was in high school, and finished high school there. I still think that was one of that area was one of the best I've visited, and am glad I got to be a guest (resident) there for such a time.

I've lived in a few different parts of the country, and some were very different from others. I grew up in New York City, moved to New Jersey, spent a couple years living on the beach in North Carolina, and now reside in west Texas. I've traveled to different parts of the Caribbean. I love learning about different cultures and can bring that knowledge of other cultures to my guests and hosts.
