About Me

Hi there! I'm Ashley. New to Couchsurfing, seasoned pro at traveling (not quite). I'm from the U.S., and currently live in LA. I'm an avid reader, nature lover, open-minded, wanderlust-inspired, adorably awkward (maybe just awkward) traveler who'd like to make your acquaintance!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a solo traveler looking to meet new people through a safe platform. I'm very picky about who I ask to host me, because I want to ensure I have an enjoyable experience with an individual who is kind and not sketchy. Therefore, if I send you a request and you are so kind to host me, I promise you I'm not merely sending you a copy and pasted message, I've scrolled through many profiles in order to come across a perfect match.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Khalid, George Ezra, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Hozier, Bon Iver, City and Colour
Movies - The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Shawshank Redemption, Singin' in the Rain, Space Jam
Books - The Picture of Dorian Gray, anything by Mr. F. Scott Fitzgerald, Harry Potter, all the classics, I'll pretty much read anything I can get my hands on!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Paragliding in the Himalayas.

Teach, Learn, Share

Being born in the U.S. is both a blessing and a curse. While I am entirely proficient at English, the U.S. education system is quite poor at introducing new languages in the classroom. Therefore I'd love to learn new languages, and in return I can give you a further look into English, if that is something you require/are interested in! I also play piano and the ukulele. I'm an introvert by nature, but I crave conversations with new people. I suppose one could classify me as an extroverted introvert, as I need alone time to re-charge. I love to learn about new cultures, and could tell you about mine as well. I've had an interesting experience in both the U.S. and Europe as an Asian-American who does not know much about Asian culture!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a few traveling experiences, and I love to listen to stories! As mentioned previously I love listening to and playing music. I can exchange cultural ideals, and I'm a very good listener. Honestly, if you're looking for a surfer to listen to stories of your glory days or countless adventures, I'm the girl for you! To be quite frank, I've not surfed yet. Therefore, I'm not entirely sure how the experience works, and how much time the host spends with the surfer. I'm extremely pliant to whatever experience the host would love to have! If the host would like to show me around town, or take me to a few favorite spots, that would be considered a lovely experience for me. If the host is busy and cannot spend much time with me, that is also just fine, as I'm learning to be independent through solo-traveling! Also, I'm currently not in the U.S., but upon my return, if anyone requires a place to stay, my door is always open!
