I'm a teacher, traveler, and translator. I love to get outdoors, listen to music, and talk about philosophy and nerd culture.
I believe in travelling not to see the sights, but to learn a culture, and so prefer to stay in countries no less than a month, and considerably more if I can. My dream is to work and live in Asia, either Japan or China.

I got caught in the rain when I traveled to Guilin (in southern China) in 2014. I ended up having a conversation with some local fisherman who let me stay under their tent because of the rain, and they were amazed I could converse even a little in Chinese. I ended up going on a bamboo boat ride (they ran a business so I asked about going on for politeness) and they let me have the boat to myself, so it was just me and the driver who was a wife of one of the fishermen. It was gorgeous!

I have an advanced language in Japanese and Chinese, so can help with those language.
I am a certified EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher, and am willing to help any hosts with lessons or learning.
I love to cook, and will do so happily if ingredients are provided if I'm not eating, or helped with if I am.
