À propos de moi
I’m 25 years old, I love to teach, and I’m from the USA. I enjoy playing sports like softball, volleyball, soccer, kickball, basketball, and more! I love outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, swimming, and more! I love my friends and family back home, but I think there’s so much more to the world than the US and I want to explore it and learn all about it! This is NOT a dating site, so please do not try to make it one with me. I have a beautiful girlfriend who is away at boot camp, and I miss her very much. If you do not respect that, then please do not bother with hosting me. I’ve been quiet for too long, and I no longer want to be. Currently on a 5.5 week journey around some of Asia after living in Thailand for nearly a year: 1. Singapore—October 12-16 ✔️ ** birthday! {hosted by Bang and it was a bangin time! 💯} 2. Malaysia (KL)—October 16-21 ✔️ {hosted by Eric and it was knowledgeable! 💯} 3. Cambodia —October 21-26 ✔️ ** hostel. 40% - hostel; 70% - experience 4. Taiwan —October 27-November 2 **arriving 7:40 am in time for PRIDE! ✔️✔️💯💯 **hosted by TingYu and 1 night by Shihkuang and met up with Larry. Incredible!! Current 📍 5. Japan (Tokyo) November 2-14 ** I will be visiting my friend who’s stationed in Japan for the military so I will be “couchsurfing” at my friends apartment the entire time! Future TRAVEL PLANS: 6. China (Shanghai)— November 15-19 **My biggest goal is to meet some students that I teach online!! Still looking to see some great things though! :) 7. United States— November 19 ****After moving away September 2017, and going back to visit in April/May... I will be moving back home! ~I understand that is A LOT to do in 5.5 weeks, and most people spend much longer time on a journey like this. However, I couldn’t choose just one or two places to travel to. Aside from my first two stops, each one has a very strong reason (other than simply traveling) why I wish to go so I simply couldn’t boot any of them. Nor could I extend my journey, because after missing the holidays last year, I made a promise to myself that I would be home in time for Thanksgiving this year(November 22)! ~Everyone’s travel journey is different. Yes, it would be awesome to travel for several weeks at each place so I could see much more, but I know this will still be the adventure of a life time! The way I see it, if I spend a short time in each place then I’ll end on a high note and I won’t be “ready to leave” which means I will have a much greater memory of each place as well. I spent 5 days in Vietnam and that is exactly how I felt, not ready to leave! However, I wouldn’t have changed it because my travels afterwards were still incredible as well! Maybe someday I can return, but there’s just so much to this world! ~I also feel as though I got to fully diverge into the Thai culture after living there for an accumulation of 11 months. If I hadn’t done that, then perhaps I would spend a month or so in each place I’m going to. I just am not in a place where I’m wanting or feeling the need to 100% do that again right now. Which is why I’m on couchsurfing, because I still want to travel like a local. I just want to do it quicker. Hope you understand.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
In March 2018 I went traveled home, but on my way I had a 20 hour layover in Hong Kong. I met this amazing couple sitting next to me on the plane to HK and they were so generous to offer me their home for the night so I didn’t have to sleep in the airport—it was like Couchsurfing by chance! That was probably one of the best experiences of my life, and it has gotten me to really want to try out Couchsurfing. I’m searching to get that welcome feeling again and that connection with people from other cultures!
Between October and November 2018 I will be traveling a bit around Asia after living in Thailand for 11 months total! I want to explore the world in a culture rich experience. I want to feel like more than just a “tourist.” I want authenticity. I’d love to hit up some beautiful tourist spots, but I’d also love to see some places off of the beaten path. I know that some of the most beautiful places can’t be found on an article you read online.
I can’t just go straight home after all this time, I must explore a bit while I’m out here!! This seems like a great option culturally AND financially. :)
Centres d'intérêt
One of my biggest interests is meeting new people and making friends! I consider myself a very outgoing person who’s usually pretty way to get along with. Sometimes I’m shy at first, but I promise you that won’t last!! I believe we can make friends with anyone even if we are different. I do not think we have to have all of the same interests, you just have to be kind :) It is nice to have some common interests to have a solid foundation to start with, but I think differences make us unique and sometimes more to discuss! I’ve learned that Asian culture is much different from American culture. Sometimes I can’t even communicate with people without a few phrases and/or google translate, but we’re still able to smile and have a good time!
I love being outdoors and staying active! If I have nothing going on then I tend to be pretty lazy and “waste my day.” I do need days like that every once in awhile, but sometimes I can get into a slump of doing that too often. Im much happier when I have a very busy life! Some people say I over do it, but if I take time off so I can get things done... I end up 1. Not getting anything done and 2. Mad that I didn’t end up going anywhere. Hence why I prefer to stay busy outside of my home! I also love teaching online, for that reason! When I teach online at home I feel much better about my life and very proactive!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
Listen to a wide variety of music from American Country to R&B, from Oldies to Disney stars. I also think the 90s had some of the best music.
I also love movies. I’m a huge fan of chick flicks and comedies! I’m not the biggest fan of action or marvel movies, but every now and then there’s a few that I like such as Transformers, Spider-Man, Knight and Day.
-I’d say comedies are probably my favorite, but you can also catch me enjoying those incredibly poor movies as well. The ones that are “so bad but you just can’t stop watching.” 😂
I don’t read a whole lot, but I have had a few favorites. I loved Nicholas Sparks books, 13 Reasons Why, as well as some books that are clearly for the intelligence of a 7th grader. Oh well—like I said, I don’t read much. I have poor comprehension 😅
++However, I am trying to pick up reading. I’m open to you showing me your favorite book(s) and trying to tell me why I should read it :)
++I was given a book by my first host and have been reading it in my spare time. Thanks, Bang!!
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
The best thing I’ve done is staying with total strangers by chance in Hong Kong. I’ll never forget that experience.
Aside from that, traveling all over Thailand and actually diving into the culture head on has been the most amazing thing I’ve done. It’s been amazing to not just see Thailand in the eyes of a “tourist” but to experience it as an expat. I’ve done my best to become fully aware of Thai customs and beliefs, and I have so much respect for Thai people and the country in general. I love that I have been working here to feel as though I have “earned” my stay and to give back to the community in a sense. This journey has changed my life!
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
I teach English to Thais and Chinese children. I’d love to learn more about other languages even though I’m not very good at it. Would love to share stories!
Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes
I’m super kind and sometimes funny. I can be quirky and weird, usually outgoing. I can share my fun fact of my memorization skills with numbers; specifically pi. Like I said, I’m quirky and weird.
