About Me
CURRENT MISSION
See the world, meet great people, and have a cracking time in the process
ABOUT ME
My friends would say I have the itchiest feet, most worn walking boots and the biggest grin.
PHILOSOPHY
Dream as if you'll live forever live as if you'll die today.
Ok Ok, so its a stolen James Dean line but I like his philosophy all the same.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
In 2015 I moved to Basque country in northern Spain where I opened my doors for couchsurfers while teaching English to a huge range of age and abilities. The youngest was 5 the oldest is 55 and I loved it. Before this I spent 3 years on the road from the beginning of 2012 to the end of 2015. While on that journey I met incredible people a lot via couchsurfing which for me was one of the greatest discoveries in that time.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have stayed on many couches from nomadic Mongolian Gers to the friendliest Tibetan yak herder (more of a baby yak than a couch actually) and have had nothing but great experiences to take away from it.
I hosted a little in England to some friends I met along the way and also my couch was open for surfers in Spain. More recently in 2017 my girlfriend and I went on a Latino adventure through Spain, Mexico then onto Central America on a little 175cc motorbike we bought and sold while there, couchsurfing along the way with some incredibly friendly Mexicans and expats.
Interests
People and open spaces grab my attention. I grew up in the country near the sea and i suppose you always crave the things you don't have, so now i fill my days climbing mountains and meeting new people... the reason I originally saved up to travel the world.
Also while away I discovered a love of teaching people who want to learn which is why when I returned to England I studied to become a qualified teacher.
Now my girlfriend and I live in Oslo where we will participate in couchsurfing as much as possible while she studies. Our hiking boots are hung up for now.... just for now....

Music, Movies, and Books
I grew up in the 90's so I still love all the Indie bands around then; Blur, Oasis, Nirvana, REM, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers to mention a few.
Then there's the slightly older stuff like the fab four, Bowie, Floyd, The Band, Dylan, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Cash and Free.
And recently I've been lucky enough to see some amazing live bands like the Foo Fighters, Mumford And Sons, The Prodigy and Bombay bicycle club.
Book wise; I'll always have a soft spot for Tolkien but read anything and everything.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hmm, tricky. Motorbiking and horse riding around Mongolia for 2 months was one of the best experiences of my life as was 7 months trekking and volunteering in the Nepali Himalayas (where I met my girlfriend). The endless open fields and Mongolian hospitality blew me away as did the snow capped peaks of Nepal, the highest i climbed was over 5400m. What a view! (ok, I realise thats two things)
Teach, Learn, Share
I think that everyone has something to teach if we have the ears to listen.
