ABOUT ME

I've been in LA for about three years now working as an architect. Prior to this, I've lived most of my life in Texas (grew up in San Antonio and went to university in Houston) but started traveling in 2007 with my first abroad trip to Japan. I love art, drawing, music, reading, hearing stories, telling stories, sitting around and hanging out. Every place that I've been holds something special, but it's always the people that make a difference.

I try and connect with couchsurfing as much as possible, either visiting other cities or helping visitors visit wherever I am!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

have met some amazing people - my kitchen was once decorated with letters, i've learned to cook Indian food (just a bit), picked cherries on a cherry orchard, and try to keep in touch with the many people on cs that have positively affected my life as much as possible

Intereses

really big things, really tiny things, metallics, running into strangers, belligerence (on occasion), parks, exploring, people losing their balance, cooking, outdoor markets (of all sorts), mixing colors, constructing things sturdy enough for me to use

Movies: Nightmare Before Christmas - Tim Burton, Talk to Her - Pedro Almodovar, Harold and Maude, Rushmore - Wes Anderson, Waltz with Bashir, In the Mood for Love - Wong Kar Wai, Don't Look Back - lighter ones too but those are the ones that have been stuck in my head for a bit longer than the rest

Books: Infinite Jest, Crime and Punishment, A Moveable Feast, biographies and short stories, Charlie Chaplin, Last Train to Memphis, Something that Needs Nothing

Music: pop beats and a pleasant voice. Animal Collective, Modest Mouse, Beach Boys, Alan Lomax through the South and a bit of folk and country where fitting - somewhere between nostalgia and comic - and some older things I can't get over - Sublime, Granddaddy. Gorillaz and Hot Chip too

Let's learn to cook together! My papa has been teaching me since I was a little kid sorting pinto beans on the kitchen counter and I haven't stopped cooking since. I'm always eager to try new recipes and foods
