About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Off and away on a camel around the world.

ABOUT ME

Pretty versatile and well-rounded, they would say. They have seen me strive to cycle 100km races, summit great mountains and sail around countries. Adventurous and spontaneous are definitely descriptions that would come up -- I will jump at any opportunity to share a new experience, whether in a new place or old. Academically driven -- I thrive off my university degree (Politics and Economics). Cultural -- with my love for languages (particularly French and Spanish), art and music. More importantly perhaps, friendly and interested in people. A short encounter with someone willing to live life to the full is enough to leave a smile on my face for the entire day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None, as of yet. So keen to participate, whether surfing or hosting.

Interests

I live in a beautiful, vibrant city that is surrounded by the mountains and the sea and I take full advantage of it. When I am not involved with my university degree (BCom Politics, Philosophy and Economics) at the University of Cape Town, I am outdoors, cycling, hiking, running, sailing or enjoying a glass champagne, watching an incredible sunset. I am fluent in French and English, have a basic grounding in Afrikaans and currently studying Spanish. I love music concerts, especially festivals! And I have an insatiable appetite for travelling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Summitting the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, in 2009. The sunrise over the volcanic ice and glaciers, after having hiked for 7 hours throughout night in -15 degree winds, was breath-taking.

My '6-week mini gap-year' in 2011. Litter picked at Glastonbury Festival, cycled along the Avon and Kennet Canal in the UK, road-tripped across Switzerland and sailed around Scotland for the Tall Ships Race.

After having visited my digs mates in Zimbabwe for three weeks, I was offered the opportunity to waitress in Seychelles, all expenses paid, two days before leaving. YES, was the answer of course. I spent the next 3 weeks slaving away so that I may travel Mahe and Alphonse (a 1 km wide island 400km south of the main island, Mahe) - the best salt water fly-fishing spot in the world! Of course, this could not have been possible without incredibly generous people...
