About Me
Hi! I'm Ashley.
I'm from a tiny, beautiful mining village in South Wales and have just returned from a few years in Toronto, CA. I work in Product for a Tech company.
I love to travel and now that the world is reopening, am jumping back into couchsurfing while on some adventures this summer. My interests while travelling include eating all of the foods, exploring local spots and galleries/museums, hikes, karaoke(!!) and just finding whatever is good in your area. At home I do much of the same with friends, but also work out, play D&D, cycle, read books and watch TV. I love to cook and share food, and hope to do that with/for hosts upon my travels.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing has allowed me to discover a whole mix of different perspectives and personalities that I would never have known otherwise. Some of these experiences have really affected me, and I think helped me become a better person. I've met some incredible people and made some life-long friends here, over 10 years in with this community and still speak to many friends from here often. I'm excited to make some new friends and, experiences in new places and sharing my own weird self with this amazing community.
Interests
Nowadays if I'm not with family or friends, my free time is spent keeping fit, working on D&D projects or a few small writing projects, and obsessing over my favourite TV shows.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm really a nerd about TV and films, Back To The Future and Knives Out are perfect movies. Admittedly a big MCU Fanboy. Favourite TV shows include The Leftovers, Better Call Saul, Russian Doll. Sitcoms: Community, Its Always Sunny, Seinfeld.
Music: My music library is pretty diverse but I'm most often listening to Punk/Rock, though it's getting a little more chill as I'm mellowing. Think The Strokes, Gaslight Anthem, Brand New. Bleachers - Take the Sadness Out Of Saturday Night has been my most played album recently!
Books: I love to read! Some favourites are: Flowers for Algernon, Into the Wild, Stories of Your Life And Others, Count of Monte Cristo, Preacher, Saga.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The CS experience as a whole has been amazing for me so far. The people I've met through it have been so awesome, and have made every trip unique and genuinely special. I've made some wonderful friends here.
As a more specific 'amazing' thing, I've saved three lives! My brother's, my grandfather's and my best friend's. They were all more right-place right-time than anything, but obviously I'm very lucky I was able to be there for each of them.
Teach, Learn, Share
"I know a little about a lot"
I'm always trying to take in different ideas, perspectives and ways of life. If you can teach me something, I'd love to learn it!
Similarly, I hope my own experiences might teach you something also.
Not many people know a lot about Wales, so I can teach you some of our history, stories, and language!
I'm always looking to experience the unfamiliar. And I can't play anything, but I love to spend time with musicians.
What I Can Share with Hosts
By hosting me you will be welcoming an enthusiastic, adventurous and fun Welshman into your home. We're kind of like dogs, but we don't shed as much hair.
I can share with you funny stories, embarrassing facts and some useless trivia. I'll often turn up with a gift from wherever I've come from, or at the least a few beers!
