About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My friend and I will be traveling around Europe from the end of May 2015- Very Beginning of July 2015. Im taking off time before medical school, and my friend Rachel is Graduating from accounting school. Are travel plans arnt set, but we are looking for some host who would show us around and introduce us to their friends of the country. Some possible destinations... Paris, Berlin, Prague, Madrid, Barcelona, Athens, Rome.
ABOUT ME

I am a week away from being 21, undergraduate Biology major (pre-med) at The University of Missouri-Columbia, minoring in Philosophy.

My friend once said this to me directly, " Ashley... Becky and I we were talking about you yesterday. We decided you are an amazing friend, trustworthy, and confident as heck. And also, how when you drink, you can bet your ears that some sort of philosophical conversation is coming off the backend of that night."

Honestly, this sums me up quiet nicely. I say i'm the person in life who takes each day to know more of who I am and be confident in that person. When friends ask me for my advice, Im notorious for telling them exactly what will happen given the situation. I tell my people how things will pan out, and ultimately, always advocate towards a decision to gain what they deserve (which is how I make my decisions). I am a 'giver.' I believe that your true character is shown by what you do for others, and I will ALWAYS be there for who ever needs me. I believe in myself and I believe that dreams are nice, but actions make your reality. I love to have a philosophical conversation. I don't think this always happens on purpose.. I think most times I just start digging beyond superficial concepts, and then I go on a tangent from there. That said, I love meeting new people and understanding their history, hobbies, and what makes them who they are beyond the superficial exterior.

PHILOSOPHY

First, I love to travel. For me, traveling opens your eyes such that when you look at things you have seen your whole life, you begin to see things in an entirely new perspective afterwords. I studied abroad in England, went on a mission trip to Jamaica, volunteered in Mexico, lived in New York for a summer internship, and in the Sierra Mts in California for a summer as a camp counselor. This summer I have an internship at the Center for Engineering in Medicine affiliated with BGH and HMS in Boston, MA. After I graduate next year, my plan is to backpack around Europe for a couple months as Im taking a year off school (before presumably entering medical school, hopefully, in Boston). Last, that said, my aspiration in life is to become a doctor after undergraduate. As daunting as it may seem to persue this path sometimes, I cant imagine myself doing anything else beside it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Studying abroad at The University of Reading in England (Fall semester 2011):
Throughout my entire life, I have never had an experience such that will ever compare to my time studying abroad in England at the wee age of 19 years. While I could list off historical sites and landmarks, studying abroad is not so much about what you see as how you feel. The friends I made while studying abroad were some of the most genuine, trustworthy, hilarious, and spontaneous people I have ever met. I had a close group of about 10 friends who if the said they would do something, they would do it; who if it was a mates birthday, they would make sure to feed you vod'er'ka jelly and got you properly drunk. The people who, if you left you room unlocked, would take out every bit of your furniture, put it in the hall way, have a party with it while you were gone away to class, and have loads of pictures and videos to share when you returned. People who would invite you to stay at there homes in the country or city of England, and showed you how it felt to be a local and immerse yourself in the antique atmosphere of their country. It was an experience that, in so many ways, defined who I am and how I view the world.

2. Sky diving in Connecticut (Summer 2011):
during a weekend break of my internship in New York (along side 10 of my friends) was defiantly an experience that could never be replicated. The thrill of jumping off a plane with endorphins rushing throughout your body saying,"under normal circumstances, you would be Dead after this." Well, there is nothing quiet like it.
