About Me

I spent a year studying in South Korea, which only made me itch for a gap year in Australia, before returning to the US.

I studied psychology, but I'm no better at reading minds than the girl walking her dog in front of your house, now. Instead, I focus on cultures.
I also studied political science because, honestly, one of the best ways to affect change is from within.
I'm open to discussions on either topic, if you share an interest.

I've spent my life between nature and cities and enjoy a balance of the two. I constantly try to challenge my comfort zones whether it involves the negative Gs in bungee jumping or stepping foot in a new country alone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm working against time here and want to learn as much as I can and create deeper connections. For me, this doesn't mean holing up in a hostel or starting the regular 9-5 routine in another country.

I've met a lot of CSers and CSees, while traveling, all of who love the community. I figure that it's time to stop being a third wheel and join in.

Interests

I volunteered in Cambodia and in Hungary and Slovakia and WOOFFed in Romania. But this all boils down to my interest in keeping the company of curious people, whether they be strange or questioning. I'm also extraordinarily weary of the weight of international volunteering, and try to approach it with thought and from the actual needs of the people I'm trying to help (not everyone needs a flat-screen, or to speak English).

I have a passion for art and photography, and never have minded a good film recommendation.

I tend to gravitate towards the oldies music, from the 20s to the 60s, but I wouldn't complain if we played funk, electric swing, french rap or whatever you want to share with me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I do all of these things, in nearly equal amount, yes.

If you'd like to learn how to open a milk carton, I can teach you (I'm looking at you, Brits). If you'd like to teach me how to open a bottle with a lighter, I'd enjoy learning. If you like to share either of these beverages we just opened, I'd be happy to.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I survive on coffee and travel with a single shot percolator as a companion. Want a home brewed cuppa?
