About Me
I don't live by "we'll sees", I live by "let's do it!s".
"Live with intention" is my daily motto.
I first caught the travel bug when I was very young, about 5 or 6 years old. After my family would go to sleep, I would stay up late at night, gazing out my bedroom window looking at the stars and wondering what else was out there. I yearned to explore. Then, when I was 7, my family hosted two girls slightly older than me from Sudan as part of a church fellowship or something (I can't remember, I was young and now I'm not religious). I vividly remember sitting down to eat dinner and watching in awe as the two girls ate their sweet potatoes with THEIR HANDS, not their utensils. They ate the whole thing, whereas I was scooping the potato part out with my spoon and leaving the skin. A part of me wanted to call out their "bad manners" but the other part of me was curious and wanted to learn more about them. My mind was opened by this experience and made me hungry to explore more of the world. I started dreaming every day of seeing places I'd never seen before. Couchsurfing is helping me make that dream a reality.
I love being on the road exploring the world and I feel most comfortable when I'm out of my comfort zone. I am constantly pushing myself out of my comfort zone, preferring to live my life focused on the experience rather than on the result of that experience. Living fearlessly is an everyday intention of mine, one where I make my dreams happen and live "excuses free | regrets free". I love to travel often, meeting new people, making new friends, and learning about the world. I rarely get that feeling of wanting to come home. I find languages fascinating and have a goal of becoming fluent in at least one other than my native language (currently working on Spanish).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
"A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions." - Oliver Wendell Holmes
I am on Couchsurfing to connect with and surround myself with likeminded people all over the world who are natural explorers, open-minded and open-hearted, and inquisitive about the world. I like people who are action-oriented, not excuses-oriented, who view strangers as new friends waiting to happen, and who challenge my beliefs and my perceptions. While traveling, I really enjoy meeting people who make me feel like we've been best friends for years. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, I cherish it.
My absolute favorite thing in life is making meaningful connections and new friends around the world!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching the sunset at a park in Bangkok and seeing a Thai mother with her toddler, teaching him how to walk in the park. He kept looking at me with a huge smile on his face and trying to walk towards me instead of his mother, hahaha :)
Hiking with my coworker in the Grand Canyon on the Bright Angel Trail, 3 miles down and 3 miles back up in 4 hours. It was both a physical and mentally compelling challenge. We probably did about 2000 lunges all the way to the top of the canyon.
Driving the Pacific Coastal Highway in California on my solo trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco, stopping in San Luis Obispo. It was some of the most jaw dropping, tear jerking scenery I have ever seen.

I am learning Spanish and am looking for people to practice with. In return, I can help you with your English!
I can also show you some yoga poses, talk endlessly with you about zen buddhist philosophy, share cat pictures, and teach you how to play piano (my degree in college was piano performance).
