About Me

ABOUT ME
I really enjoy learning from people, especially those from cultures and countries other than my own. The idea behind Couchsurfing is so appealing to me for that reason and it's really been great to get to know - albeit briefly in many cases - some fascinating people. I work for a university in London but my job involves travelling around the world talking to students so I'm still doing what I enjoy, though in more compressed time periods now!

PHILOSOPHY

Keep learning!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can meet for coffee in central London depending on my schedule if you'd like to have a chat or get some advice about London/UK/other places I've been.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's been great. I've met some wonderful people on my way.

Interests

Growing vegetables, people-watching, literature, pottering, playing tennis, travelling of course, trying to speak Spanish. I am always listening to music and really enjoy discovering new stuff. I also enjoy taking photographs, talking nonsense with my friends, and eating good food.

Music, Movies, and Books

All sorts of music. Many films. Lots of books. I've recently just finished The Old Ways by Robert McFarlane who writes beautifully about landscapes and re-introduces English words for aspects of nature that had been forgotten for many years. I love reading Murukami when I travel. I'm currently reading a really interesting book about what makes groups function well. I love so much music, lots of genres etc, but I guess some stand outs would be Devendra Banhart, Chemical Brothers, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, PJ Harvey and Nick Cave. More recently, I've been enjoying Teleman, Fat White Family, and also learning a bit more about salsa, particularly Willie Colón and Héctor Lavoe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camping in a beach cave in Rapa Nui/Easter Island was a wonderful experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people how to make an excellent cheese and pickle sandwich. And a few other things besides.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully interesting conversation!
