I'm a historian, like to learn languages, value friends, good food and good beer.

My philosophy is: You can't always do everything right.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really like the idea that people help each other, not because they want money or advantages, but just because they like helping. Plus, I like meeting people from different countries and cultures, and learn/practise different languages.

I'll participate by hosting surfers in Oslo, hopefully also by showing them a bit around.

Interests

History, languages, music, exercise, yoga, swimming, food, beer, wine, friendship, board games etc.

I really want to go to: Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Greece, India and Iran. Actually all over Latin America and South Asia.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: mostly prog.rock and classical music, plus some heavy metal. One of my all-time favourite bands is Steely Dan - if you like them, we definitely have something to talk about right there.

Movies: I don't watch a lot of movies, and I don't really have a defined "taste", but I tend to prefer intelligent comedy. Monty Python, of course, is in high regard!

Books: A Song of Ice and Fire and historical novels like the House by the Mosque, the Cathedral of the Sea and the Saxon Tales series. Recently read Our Ancestors by Italo Calvino and Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, those are must-reads.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn languages, and improve my German and Spanish skills . Also, I'd like to improve my singing and piano skills.

Teaching? Well, I can teach Norwegian, and I know a lot of history. Ah, and I can teach you some chords on the guitar if you don't know how to play.

Sharing? Well, if I host you, I'll share my company, plus my food and drinks, and my knowledge of Norway and Oslo :)
