About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Gathering experiences.

ABOUT ME

Art is not simply what you make, but what you make of your life. So what am I? I'm a poet, fine artist, filmmaker, salt eating, movie addict, in love with roasted almonds, on a journey to gather new and illuminating experiences. Born on the 15th day, of the 6th month, smack dab in the middle of the year. Currently studying Post-Colonial Literature and Theory at Freie University Berlin.

PHILOSOPHY

Live every moment as if its your last, there will be no regrets.

A friend of mine recently mentioned how “she runs to” wherever the pain is within society. I don’t run, but at the same time its physically impossible for me to turn away. In hiding and backing down from the injustices of this world I might be their first victim, due to race and due to sex. You could say its simply self-interest but there’s more to it than that. Like so much else in life - what I feel, the emotions that arise within me, in the face of injustice, human suffering, and humans who are simply helpless - goes beyond the Color and Nature of my skin.

I can’t turn away because it feels like I’m dying. Seeing the powerlessness of others reflects a weakness within the self. I have been utterly powerless before, and could be again so I put myself in their shoes. Because I would rather not live than live hopelessly, unable to rise. “Maybe this is selfish.”

So when you see me walking barefoot down the street; expressing too many words or too many emotions; writing e-mails it would be impossible to answer; dancing like there’s no tomorrow; traveling alone and almost penniless to foreign countries, or following any number of illogical pursuits and paths . . .

Understand that all I really want is to prove that creation is actually possible . . .

That change is actually possible.

Because the primary obstacle between the average person, and the average person achieving their dreams is not physical, financial, or even really a lack of what to say (we all have something to say even if it takes a lifetime to shift through all the bullshit and fat to get down to what makes us tick), no the primary obstacle is that they believe achieving their goals is impossible.

But if you turn around and look back through history what you will discover is that,

“Change is always possible!”

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Waking up at dawn near Cape Cod's Aquinna cliffs with the sound of the surf crashing against sand. There was sand in my sleeping bag, sand in my hair. The pit fire from the night before had gone out and we were all drunk from music and speech, our fingers sore from strumming guitars, gathering drift wood, roasting food and getting burnt from the effort.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share the places in this city I know the best. As an artist I can share the art and art exhibits that have been inspirational. As a food lover I can share the small dives and little hot spots where you learn not only to appreciate your food but who you're sitting next to.
