Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find myself. In the meantime I'm quite content to take things as they come.
ABOUT ME
After some years on the road, in the garden, knocking down buildings, volunteering here, working in foreign countries there and generally helping out I have returned to Ireland and am a 'teacher'.
Part of this job allows me to use anything I can think of to make stuff like the 15th century and onomatopoeia interesting. The other part involves me walking around quickly with books under my arm and being acutely aware of chewing gum. I would definately be a teacher who tries to get students up on the tables to look at the world in a different way, unless of course I come into the class and they are already on the tables.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that I would not mind retiring in a place where I can walk around in my bare-feet.
PHILOSOPHY
the universe is unfolding, just as it should be
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host, I surf, I breathe. I have been fortunate to have been accommodated in the most unlikely places over the years on travels, tried to do the same, and hope this will be another chance. I have now painted my sitting room to make any person's visit more enjoyable.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
What kinds of experiences have I had through CouchSurfing? Er... good ones?

Music, Movies, and Books
- Love movies and am pretty eclectic about it. Some thoughts; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for hope; Michael Clayton for 'oh yeh! I didn't see that coming'; Kooyanisqatsi for a fertile brain; Barnie's Version because life, while beautiful, sometimes is that way and Man on Fire becuase we can't always be good.
After that well I never get bored showing the Shawshank Redemption or Good Will Hunting to the kids in school.
- The Wire (if only for work).
- Same with music and on the table at home you might find some Fela Kuti and Kila to the Clash and X, MIA and Santogold to Massive Attack and the late great Johnny Cash.
- Books, Vernon God Little, Their Eyes Were Watching God, For Whom the Bells Tolls, Things Fall Apart, the Poisonwood Bible, The Catastrophist, Bear vs Shark II...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just to live really.
Teach, Learn, Share
- three ways to cheer up a kid (generally under the age of 6): how to make a chicken out a towel, pretend to break your nose & an easy-peasy card trick.
- my favourite pub trick of all time.
- where random beautiful words come from.
