About Me

ABOUT
Enthusiastic, purposeful, and I try to be as kind as I can be. I seem to be hilariously outgoing for British standards (actually, by american standards too) and I just jumped from my last adventure (traveling solo in the Middle East/Eastern Europe) to this next one: moving to the UK to work for a charity. Yay adventures!

PHILOSOPHY

I think I was put on this earth to learn, get out of my own way, and just enjoy this life I have been given. The particular lessons I'm hoping to challenge myself with on this journey are: 'go with the flow', 'travel light', 'stop making plans, blow with the wind'.

I have enough sense of irony to see the hilarity in me setting out with a purpose to become more carefree. What can I say, I contain multitudes :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For the foreseeable future I will be living at a charity for homeless youth, so I don't think I'll be able to host while I volunteer there. But I want to get to know this country the best way I can think of: staying in people's homes and hearing about their lives.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had some really sweet experiences with hosts while a traveling for 6 months, and I've had the chance to host a few times myself

Interests

Wildcrafting, watercolor, yoga, homesteading skills like bread baking and wine brewing, comparative anthropology.

Life of Pi, The Alchemist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched fall foliage by the Mississippi River blow in the wind, Caught a baby being born, Protested US imperialism with Occupy in DC.

Teach, Learn, Share

Gosh, I guess things I could teach on the road would be: firemaking, basic wine brewing, knitting, felting, watercolor, and I could probably talk at you for hours about how our bodies work.

Things I'd like to learn? storytelling, your grandmother's recipes, myth, herbalism/healing, goat and bee keeping, plumbing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I try to be a courteous guest- cooking a meal, keeping the space tidy, watching kids for a night if parents want to get away.
