Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Simultaneously searching for the right career and the right country for me...
ABOUT ME
ugh, I don't like talking about myself :-)
I'm usually pretty laid-back, friendly, warm, thoughtful, though I can get pretty wound up and silly too. Prefer small group settings where intimate conversations are possible. Often indecisive. In terms of traveling, I like to be spontaneous within a flexible plan.
PHILOSOPHY
Humanist. Push your limits, grow, become the person you want to be, laugh at yourself. Kindness - not just being nice when it suits you, but willingness to make sacrifices for others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Just surfing at this point, since I don't have the means to host.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In the broad sense, I've slept on many a couch all around the USA, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Copenhagen, Oslo, and Hong Kong. Through the website couchsurfed in Germany, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, India (where I had a really bad experience, so took a break for a while), later Slovakia and Poland. Have only had the means to host while I was living in S.Korea...

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm not a big reader, though I'd like to improve that. Currently reading "Stumbling on Happiness". Appreciate most kinds of music, but favorites are singer/songwriter, indie, jazz, traditional/folk, cheesy 80s :-)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Amazing? Let's just say I'm both easily amused and amazed, so my amazements are probably just commonplace-ments to most people. For example, the ocean.
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmm, I feel like my knowledge has more breadth than depth at this point - my experience has varied from growing up in Catholic school to studying engineering at a prestigious university (not sure it was worth as much as I'm still paying!), to HIV-AIDS outreach in Africa, to bartending, to outdoor/experiential education, to creating opportunities for low income kids, to organizational leadership, and now teaching English in Korea. I'm still trying to figure out how to best use my talents to do meaningful work! Things I can teach: basic guitar, Thai massage, yoga.
