ABOUT ME

I'm a noted 'Lost' addict. I'm extremely loyal to my friends. I can't really dance, but I can't stay still either. I hate dresses. I sing at random. I love the colour orange. I live and breathe baseball. I run through sprinklers. I play rugby. I read Sports Illustrated and Smithsonian magazines religiously. I can't handle needy people. I love to camp. I rarely take myself seriously. I shout at the TV during hockey games. I'll do anything once, within reason. I talk to myself. I've begrudgingly learned to like some country music. I love the freedom of the open road. I make snow angels. I love revolutions. I paint my toenails teal. I smile at people I don't know. I love the smell of rain. I have a hard time keeping plants alive. I will ignore you in favour of a football (soccer) match. I hate mornings. I'm a daddy's girl. I love foreign food. I still enjoy fireworks. I miss the mountains. I am fascinated by combat photography. I need to be challenged. I've never been good at backing down from things. I suck at romance. I still love the theatre. I hate being talked down to. I enjoy foreign films. I named my car. I love languages. I like the sound of trains. I AM CANADIAN!

PHILOSOPHY

Never stay with a man, a job, friends or a city that doesn't make you happy; eventually you'll wake up and realize you've wasted years trying to force something that was never worth the effort.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had some GREAT couch surfers when I lived in Prague. And met some other great couch surfers through my finds who hosted. Some I still talk to, some I don't, but they've all been amazing experiences with quality people. As far as surfing myself, my couchsurfing has been limited to the couches of my friends. I have yet to be on the other end of it.

Interests

Photography, rugby, football, hockey, baseball, beer, being around fun people, books, movies, friends, travel, road trips, meeting people where and whenever -- the more random the better, sports, the gorgeous men of the Prague police force, music, uncovering random things in the cities I live in (I found out by accident one day that in Prague, I lived around the corner from the Russian Embassy!)

Movies: Almost Famous, The Bourne movies, Closer, The Prestige, Shaun of the Dead, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, the first two X-Men (oh, Hugh Jackman in leather....) The Usual Suspects, Spinal Tap, The Hangover, The History Boys, Fight Club, pretty much anything that has a clever script, stuff blows up and/or no one gets the girl at the end.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done nothing other people haven't done. I have lived abroad, I grew up speaking a language other than English, I have gone swimming with manta rays and chased icebergs down a beach (but not in the same place,) I have kissed foreign boys and I haven't seen or done half the things I want to. I am completely ordinary in the things that make me extraordinary.

Teach, Learn, Share

My mother taught me to score a baseball game. My father taught me how to shingle a roof. My brother taught me how small the world really is. Years of research taught me more than most people will ever want or need to know about the history of Northern Ireland and/or revolutionary theory. I can write an excellent press release on baseball, football (of the global variety,) hockey, lacrosse, basketball or cross-country in under ten minutes.
