About Me

I am a PhD student in theoretical physics at Weizmann Institute, studying string theories. Very loosely speaking this means I am inventing frameworks for the guys (called phenomenologists) who create theories that are tested at the Large Hadron Collider. To be completely honest, the last sentence is not true, but I believe it helped to get the gist. I would be happy to tell you about my research or phyiscs in general.

Apard from doing science, I also enjoy reading about it. One of my biggest interests is why does our brain works the way it works and why even tiny variations of certain neurotransmitters affect people so strongly and in such different ways. I am also interested in "soft" sciences, especially in history and policy studies.

One of my biggest passions is traveling. Thanks to relatively flexible schedule and lots of holidays in Israel I can travel several times a year. I am interested in architecture, in particular in various churches and cathedrals. I also love northern nature, and trips to White Sea and Iceland gave me some of the most intense and breathtaking experieinces in my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to meet friends from different countries who are eager to share their thoughts, beliefs, and emotions. I believe the only way to understand a country or its culture is by talking to the people who live in it and Couchsurfing seem to provide a fantastic opportunity to do so.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like music of different styles and genres, but mostly I prefer progressive rock and classical rock. Some of my favorite bands are Genesis, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Simon & Garfunkel, Beatles and R.E.M.

I used to be an avid reader, but much to my shame now I read way less than I used to. I prefer 20th century literature, some of my favorite books are "The Stranger" by Camus, "The Trial" by Kafka, "Brave New World" by Huxley, "Demons" by Dostoyevsky, "Cynics" by Marienhof, "Of Mice and Men" by Steinbeck, "The Buried Giant" by Ishiguro, "All the King's Men" by Warren and "The Sea, the Sea" by Iris Murdoch.
