About Me

Hi there!
My name is Asta Karen and I love to travel and meet new people. :)

If you are curious about anything, just ask! I'm a very open person and not shy at all. I enjoy the company of others and I always do my best to make people feel at ease and get the conversation going.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I love PEOPLE. I want to get to know as many folks as I can and I find it very interesting when I meet someone completely different from me (or someone I have multiple things in common with!).
I am very easy going and I'm always up for adventure. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
If I'm not sure what to listen to I always put on some Doo-Wop.
Electric Light Orchestra, Meat Loaf, Har Mar Superstar, Of Monsters and Men, Marina and the Diamonds, Daft Punk, Johnny Cash, Tiny Tim, Queen, ABBA, The Beatles, Alice Cooper, Oingo Boingo, Rammstein, Mindless Self Indulgence, Garbage, Gipsy Kings.

Movies:
I love documentaries, artsy films (have a Film Studies degree), indie films and B-movies (so bad that they're good).
The Wizard of Oz, Shaun of the Dead, Labyrinth, Beetlejuice, 12 Angry Men, Night of the Living Dead, Dr. Strangelove, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Cube, Office Space, Ghost World, Clerks.

Books:
I read almost anything! My favorite is character-heavy stuff, science fiction and psychological thrillers.
Isaac Asimov, John Waters, Agatha Christie, James St. James, Hunter S. Thompson, L. Frank Baum, Bret Easton Ellis, Jhonen Vasquez, Neil Gaiman.

Teach, Learn, Share

I 'm not sure what to put in this section "Teach, Learn, Share" but I guess I could say this:
I've been a teacher's assistant for two courses in the University of Iceland. It was so much fun and I think I might even become a teacher one day.

I think traveling and getting to know other cultures is so important! It teaches us that despite all our interesting and fun differences, we are all just people and we all just want to be loved and have fun with life while we have it. :)
I think the world would be a better place if people could get to know as many different cultures as possible.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Me! I'm not much of a cook, but I'm a hell of a listener and talker.
I'm very interested in what makes people tick and I love solving problems. Have you been feeling down recently? Let's talk about it! Are you unsure about the future? Let's get a cup of tea and discuss the mysteries of life! Are you just happy with life and enjoying it to its fullest? Let's share stories about our high points in life and our plans for the future (or our plans for just living in the present)!
