About Me
Hello! I'm Estrella, and I'm from the Canary Islands.
I’m currently studying Translation and Interpretation in Salamanca. I am passionate about languages, dogs, music, literature, and meeting new people. From a very young age, I realized that travelling the "normal" way was not my vibe. This led me to look for a way to experience the culture of the countries I visited in more meaningful ways, such as with Couchsurfing and Workaway.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Simply said, learning about other people’s cultures brings me immeasurable joy. I believe that the best way to do so is through its people, language, and food. Being as close to these aspects of everyday life instead of watching from afar, I find the most rewarding of experiences. My life's purpose these days is to make genuine and joyful connections that enrich mine and other people's lives. For that, I hope to find open people who are in love with their culture and want to educate other people about it
Interests
As a translation student I'm especially interested in languages and the power that words hold. I love having a good conversation - and some nice food to go along with it. Dancing, singing and music are also a big part of my life, so count me in if you want to jam for a while.

Music, Movies, and Books
I´m an avid reader! You can find me on GoodReads (Estrella Méndez) so you can find out if our tastes align. Music is a central part of my life: it´s the first thing I listen to in the morning and the last before I go to bed. I have lots of recommendations and I would love to get any from you.
My favorite movie might just be the one that makes me most sentimental: How To Train Your Dragon
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When the volcano in my island erupted, I collaborated with World Central Kitchen to provide warm meals to the affected families. This experience confirmed my desire to help those in need in whatever way I can.
Also lived in Iceland for my ERASMUS program for 6 months, and stayed with an Icelandic family thorugh Workaway for most of my stay
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about what lies behind words and what I aspire to accomplish through my degree. I hope to share great experiences with my hosts, and if possible make long-time friendships that will enrich both our lives. I´m also more than keen to speak about literature and art. I´m also very passionate about dogs and dog training! So if you have one I may be able to teach them some tricks :).
