ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in the Netherlands and I remember the first time I went on a holiday with my family outside of the country: Going camping as Dutch people do. We went to Austria and I was fascinated with the mountains, the people speaking a different language, having different customs! I loved it! I must have been 6 years old but then I told myself..:€œwhen I grow up... So as soon as I was old enough to explore the world, I left for a year to Paris (I was 17).
Went to study afterwards in the Netherlands (counseling- pedagogy) and then took off again. This time to Latin America. And the continent welcomed me like my Home. Things after this trip weren´€™t the same and the continent kept calling...
So idealistic as I am to help making the world a better place, I decided to give my time working with street children in Mexico.
I have always been intrigued by the Maya-culture and for me it was a chance to dive into it more. As well as learning Spanish. But mainly it was something my Heart got exited about.
Most of this time (1,5 year) I was in Oaxaca and Guatemala and had an amazing time.
Went back to the Netherlands as I felt it wasn€™t the time to completely move and I developed myself more in spiritual matters and giving different types of healing, massage. And then, in 2006, I decided to go back to live in Mexico. This time driven by another idealistic Project; working with friends on organizing spiritual trips (trips increasing spiritual awareness in combination with visiting parts and €œStrength-places€ in Mexico).
And then in 2009 made the jump from Oaxaca to Mérida (Progreso). From the mountains to the tropical beach! Yucatan called me.
And I think that is mainly who I am: I follow my Heart where it wants me to go, eventhough my mind cant always follow up. It had to learn to trust and see the results for itself! And the results are amazing. :-)
I´m a happy being with loads of inspiration still for loads of things I would want to share and learn in this world!

At this moment i dedicate myself to organizing and guiding spiritual journeys, giving healing-sessions and workshops.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in Chicxulub Puerto, a quiet and special fisher village near Progreso, right at the beach. Not many travellers get to explore this part of Yucatán, but if you feel like it; I have a couch or hammock available. Im in for a drink as well. Im not a big planner, so writing me too far ahead doenst really work out for me. I like to go with the flow of the moment!:-)

Interests

Well, in my former description it might be obvious that I am very interested in many things having to do with Spirituality and Self-development.

I love being in nature, and it became even more of a need to be in or close to nature!

I have 2 dogs and would have had probably more AND cats, if I would have had the ways to maintain them. I cant imagine a life without pets anymore! Even though it makes it a bit more difficult to move around.. But nothing is impossible!

I like writing a LOT.

And I like going to the gym!

In the Netherlands I couldn´€™t do without visiting the sauna!
Here I couldn´€™t do without a swim in the sea!
