Overview
About Me
I grew up in North London, but we visited Sweden-where my mother is from, often in the summers and winters.
I moved to Manchester to study Social Anthropology and then did a years study abroad at the University of Melbourne.
My family and I visited Europe often with the occasional trip further afield to areas of Asia and Africa. I started holidaying with friends when I was 15; we went to Portugal, then Valencia then inter-railing. When I was 18 my friend and I travelled to Sri Lanka and across to India to teach English in our friends comprehensive secondary school. Following these 6 weeks, I met a second friend in Vietnam and we travelled through to Cambodia, up Laos to Thailand together where we worked on a permaculture farm in Pai through WorkAway. A year later I actually bumped into someone we met on the Laos border on the London Southbank who sold me a burrito-small world!
I have tried many times to use Couchsurfing but have failed time and time again...I return to it now in a time of need because I was recently made redundant and the rumours about London are true-there are no jobs and everything is expensive. I have always had the mentality of committing myself to helping out fellow young poor travellers when I can (particularly in Melbourne). I hope it is time for good karma to come back around...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When my friend and I were in Cambodia, stranded in Phnom Penh during the water festival new year when transport had grounded to a halt, we spent the day watching movies in a small cooperative run cinema. One of which was called 'one couch at a time', a documentary about the experience of Alexandra Liss's couch surfing and inspired us both hugely to get involved with the project.
My sister and I are in Amsterdam this weekend and we need a place to stay just for one night on the Friday (5th July 19). Please help us out! I promise we are a ball of laffs!!!
