About Me
MY CURRENT MISSION:
Will be travelling in Iran in September with my good friend Sophie Merkens (from New Zealand), who I have earlier been bicycle touring with. On our trip to Iran we let the bikes stay at home, and focus on staying with locals and learning to cook Iranian food! I feel very excited to travel Iran, because I have heard many positive stories from other travellers, and because I have good Iranian friends, living in Denmark. After this trip I hope to invite my Iranian friends in Denmark for an incredible dinner - one that will remind them of meals cooked by their mammas.
ABOUT ME:
Smiling foodie with an interest for sustainability, and a passion for travelling.
Hitch hiking, bicycle touring and couchsurfing are my favourite ways of travelling because they are great ways to meet locals, while also experiencing the rural and natural areas. When cycling you can literally look people in the eyes when you quietly pass by, and camping gives you time to enjoy the magic of nature. I dream of continuing to work seasonally in Tourism, and spending the summers travelling.
I am amazed by the many ways of life on the planet. People are basically the same, yet so different. I keep a positive attitude to life, and I am looking forward to meeting you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My door is always open to travellers who contact me either through hosting networks (I mainly use trustroots.org and warmshowers.org) through friends, or simply travellers I meet in town. I am thankful for all the good experiences I have had while travelling, and feel lucky to be able to show the same generosity to travellers coming by Denmark.
Interests
I am learning about social entrepreneurship. At the moment I am involved in starting "food coops" for direct trade between farmers and consumers in Denmark, giving farmers better conditions, strengthening local food production and the economy of rural areas. I am also working in a kitchen with women who are learning Danish and professionalizing their cooking skills. Many of the women are from North Africa or the middle East. I love learning about their culture and being inspired by their cooking skills.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: growing up I was very inspired by philosophers such as Sartre, later on when travelling India and learning about sustainable agriculture and settlements I felt inspired by Gandhi and Vandana Shiva.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I worked two winters as a guide in Kirkenes Snowhotel -a hotel made of snow and ice in the arctic. As a tourist guide I was enjoying sharing the northern lights, dog sledding, fishing for king crabs, cross-country skiing with guests from around the world, and with humour demonstrating how to "survive the night" in a frozen hotel. My colleagues where from 16 different countries, and felt like an international family.
Teach, Learn, Share
I hope to learn how to COOK IRANIAN DISHES. Share good times and stories. Cook together.
I keep an open mind and wish to grow personally from learning about different cultures, while also sharing what I have learned with the people I know back home. Hoping to contribute to a world where people feel more trust than fear.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share positivity, smiles, and stories from around the world.
