ABOUT ME
Its been almost 10 years since I joined couchsurfing! wow, looking back at all my experiences and references, I really loved it here. And now I am back.
I just finished a semster abroad here in new york state and will be traveling around the southwest and california for the winter time, until I start the PCT in april. I am a farmer, student, clown, activist, climber. hmm, maybe those were the most important keywords. but that list changes fast :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I got into Coushsurfing when I was 18. I used it to meet people in Bordeaux, France while I was a lonely au-pair and surfed the first time Paris. The next years I used it a lot, going to meetings in my home city and in other cities, learning so much from people. It was a couchsurfer who went with me on my first hitchhiking trip, a couchsurfer who showed me where to dumpster dive in vienna. we started a sustainable couchsurfing group in vienna. Couchsurfing was a non-profit back then, more of a niche, with people wanting to share their lives and homes with others. A lot has changed since, but i am grateful for the experience those years on couchsurfing gave me.
Now, I am lot more settled on where I am at and who I am looking for. Most of the time, I dont need couchsurfing anymore to find my people, my community, my network. But when I do, I have a great time and learn something new from all the amazing people out there.
Interests
Nature is my big passion. I love the mountains, hiking, rock climbing, camping and just being outside. When I hike, I always feel that I am exactly where I need to be, doing exactly what I should be doing.
I am also politically active, often going and organising protests, but also other forms of activism. Topics that are especailly of interest to me are food sovereignty, migration and asylum, anti-fashishm and anarchism.
*update: ah, it makes me a bit sad, I wrote that about 7 years ago, when i was a younger, more idealistic, active self. I still do activism, but for me the word 'often' has changed into sometimes*
I am really into topics surrounding food justice, from local to global, from austria, to europe, to the global south. Its what I study, where i invest energy do build up alternatives (food coops, farm collectives), do activism (via campesina) and make my money as a farm worker.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is a really big part in my life. I have played the trumpet since i was 10 and i studied classical music in a university for two years. Now i sometimes play guitar and am trying to be more creative with my trumpet. Recently i have started playing the dijirido, one that i built myself :) I love classical music and some jazz. I love dancing to reggae roots and DUB. All i need for the perfect evening is a big Soundsystem and some herbs to keep me dancing. I also like electornic music, especially goa and trance.
i adore beirut, just listening to them makes me happy; i love fat freddies drop, tash sultana, alt-j, sufjan, and more
