Ola!
My name is Atharva and I'm from Pune, India. I'm currently attending UT Dallas pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering on a scholarship :)
I turned 18 a couple months back and have been born and brought up in Pune (I lived in Dubai for around 4 years).

My biggest interest is music. I have been learning Indian Classical vocal music since I was 8 and began learning guitar around 5 years ago 🙂 I've been playing in venues in and around Pune either solo/with my band for around 4 years now. My fav artists include - Alter Bridge, Metallica, Breaking Benjamin, Pink Floyd, Bryan Adams, Oasis, Bon Jovi, Boyce Avenue, Lindsey Stirling, Adele, Shakira, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran and the likes
I also listen to a lil bit of Blues and Country and have been following The Voice since Season 1

I LOVE food and am up for trying all sorts of cuisines 🙂 Also, I can cook some nice Indian food ^_^

I can speak Hindi, Marathi and English fluently and really want to learn a bit of Spanish if I get the chance.

I can't dance at all and will be trying to learn at least one form of dance as soon as possible. I'm also hugely fond of travelling and plan on studying abroad in Dublin for a semester.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have explored most of India, and believe that the best stories are always those found between the pages of a passport :). I look forward to meeting you and hearing your story!

Unfortunately, as much as all of us want to, we cannot travel throughout our lives and not 'work'. While not on vacation, I'm juggling my University studies, my job, music practice, and communicating effectively with my family back home. So my entire desire to travel, explore and learn is bottled down and I can only try my best to meet new people in vacations. Couchsurfing can bring me a step closer to my goal of making friends that last a lifetime <3

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is all written up there^^ (Sorry, I procrastinate a lot :P)

I'm not much of a movie person but I really enjoy old cheesy comedy movies like Charlie Chaplin or anything and everything by Rowan Atkinson. I also watch a little bit here and there of F.R.I.E.N.D.S and Modern Family!

I love reading and am currently reading 2 books - One on leadership development and one on fictional Indian mythology. My all time favorites include the ENTIRE Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling, and Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel it took me a lot of courage and discipline to leave behind all my family and friends back home in India, and come to the States to pursue education. I went from having everything on a platter at home to having to cook my own food, do my own laundry, manage my own finances, and so on.

This taught me a great deal about responsibility and independence.

I've also cliff jumped off of an 80 foot cliff while I was in Austin, TX and it was one of the best experiences of my life!

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe learning is a constant process, and we learn and grow throughout our lives.

Remember those school days, when we were young and naive and had a carefree attitude? I wish those days last forever. When nobody is judging you, and when you make mistakes and learn from them!

I love environments which facilitate learning and growth. And I would most definitely love to share the gift of music with every traveler that I host :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my experiences throughout my (short, albeit happening) life. Teenage years are like a sine wave. You always have your ups and downs.
