Movies: I dont know the type but I like Interstellar, The Fountain, The tree of life, I'm legend stuff.

Books: Rousseau, Schopenhauer, Freud, Amin Maalouf, Mark Twain, Travel Books (Marco Polo, Ibn Battuta, Evliya Celebi and really try to find new ones), biography, and tech magazines.
