I am Atiq Rahman, project officer of the Work for a Better Bangladesh (WBB) Trust, it a national policy focused Non-Government Organization (NGO). Work for a Better Bangladesh is a slogan as well as a name, reflecting our belief that everyone can contribute to making a better Bangladesh. The mission is to facilitate the passage and implementation of policies to create an environment that promotes health and social interactions for all members of society, and in which government provides quality education, health care and other essential services to all for free. WBB also works on social and equity justice, specifically on gender, including trying to address root causes for gender-based violence.
I am working to promote environment friendly liveable city team and my role is to promote walking and non-motorised transport for short distance and other public transport for long distance in urban area and promotion of rail and river transport for short and long distance as it is cost effective, comfortable and environment friendly. I am organizing various indoor and outdoor events. Among indoor events, view exchange/sharing and discussion meeting with policy makers and senior government officials, journalists and civil societies. And among outdoor program, public sensitization campaign, signature campaign, rallies and human chain, demonstrations etc. I am also writing press releases and other press materials for different kind of programs I’ve organize. I am also a journalist and regularly writing articles for various national dailies and online portals.
I am involved with various action based research on the topic I am working and co-author of two publications.
However, I am one of young activist and involve with mobilizing other youth for positive change on environmental perspective. I am also representing several civil society forums.
