About Me

CURRENT MISSION

No missions to accomplish, at least I am not aware of it.

ABOUT ME

I am interested in multiculturalism, progresist political tendences, opensource software, lengthy dinners, and the rights of the minoritary and minorized languages, since my mother tongue is a such. A great fan of literature (of most times and genres).

PHILOSOPHY

Doing quite fine with dysteleology.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I lend a couch and give my attention to those who might come to Santiago de Compostela, and by kindly trying to interact with those from whom I might borrow a couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been abroad for some years. There, I have had the chance to host a bit more than a dozen couchsurfers (men and women), with a 90% success (concerning how enriching a CS experience can become). Here, in Santiago de Compostela, I have also had some guests, with the same positive result.

As a guest, I've been hosted in Italy, Hungary, Switzerland or Germany. And also in Salamanca, Spain. Same thing: success

Some of these references are marked in this other shared profile I had together with my former couple.

Interests

Reading, watching a quiz program in TVE2 called Saber y Ganar, biking wherever cars are banned or, at least, don't rule, getting to know freak things and events, conversating, listening to most music but easy pop, gardening (small and easy to maintain plants), puzzles (with clear patterns), travelling (as far from the tourist herds as possible), SCI-FI.

Music, Movies, and Books

*The Magic Mountain (Thomas Mann), Fathers and Sons (Turgueniev), Love in the Time of Cholera (García Márquez), Grapes of Wrath (Steinbeck), 2666 -among others- (Bolaño), Five hours with Mario (Miguel Delibes), Os camiños da vida (not translated into English, Otero Pedrayo), many moving poems by Rosalía de Castro, Oliverio Girondo, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Kavafis, 1984 (Orwell), Post Office (Bukowski), The process (Kafka), The Big Sleep (Chandler), Caves of Steel (Asimov), Rendezvous with Rama (Arthur C. Clarke)...

*Fania All Stars (I am big and loyal fan of Willie Colón), Los Panchos, Pérez Prado, Carlos Gardel, Albert Pla, Bonga, Amalia Rogrigues, Galician folklore, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Tammy Gwyneth, Johnny Cash, most compositions by Gustav Mahler, Mendelsohn, Schubert... In short, a neverending list.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ubuntu operating system. The cities of Granada, Berlin, Budapest or Santiago de Compostela itself. Some F.C Barcelona matches, such as the fabulous 5-0 against Real Madrid (season 2010/11). Most Norwegian landscapes. A functional and fair administrative bureau, such as the Danish one. Lots of youtube freak videos. Many posts in microsiervos.com. Elegant and smart women.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will use this section for commenting the very opposite: things I am not going to teach you.

Please, do not expect Spanish language lessons from me.

If you are a native Spanish speaker (unless you were born or you are living in Galicia) I will gladly talk to you in your language, Spanish. But if you are from somewhere else and not only are you looking for a host but also for a conversation partner in order to improve your skills in Spanish, then I am not the best option for you to choose -even more when there are many others who will be delighted with such language exchange!

I am bilingual in Galician and Spanish, that's a fact, but my preferences when talking to foreigners are clear -and based on quite a number of arguments-: if I can use my language, Galician, to communicate with you, I will (and I can do that not only with Galician people but also -just like Danes do with Norwegians an Swedes- with all Portuguese speakers). For all other cases, I'd rather use English as lingua franca, French with francophones and Spanish with Spanish speakers. It's that easy.
