About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission objective is to dance, bicycle, get my name in pinball machines and collect groovy space age coctail lounge records

ABOUT ME

At this point I know that I need a couple of things in my life to be happy. I have to have a bicycle, somewhere to go dancing, some second hand junk to search through and at least one good friend. The extras would be pinball, scooters, comic books, records, someone nice to smooch, good food, a line on some groovy vintage suits, and a neverending supply of toblerone.

I find myself left on the political spectrum, but distrust politics in general. I enjoy artsy stuff and have always been attracted to sort of underground subcultures, but have never been able to tie myself down to one completely. I really like getting dressed up and do so often without any kind of special occasion.

I love my friends! I don't know what I would do without them and I'm happy to say that I'm still making new ones. I like to meet new people and see just what is happening out there in the world.

I try my best to stay open minded and receptive to new ideas. There are so many ways to look at things and that bears keeping in mind.

I'm kind of a goof ball and I really like jokes. My favorite one at the moment is a knock knock joke. I like to travel, but it has become a bit tiring. I like to go to places and stay for at least 6 months. Then, you can really get to know them. Teaching English works well for this.

PHILOSOPHY

You can do just about anything if you put your mind to it. Don't let the bastards grind you down.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing with the murfing and hosting with the mosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have a whole lot. It started in the United States when I was 16. I met a good buddy who helped me realize just how many opportunities there were to meet new people, that life should be lived to the fullest, and that things usually work out one way or another if you want them too. We travelled a lot to go dancing and crossed paths with people who put us up and we did the same when there were events near us.

Later, I drove accross the U.S.A. with a friend and we never used our camping gear once. We just so happened to meet new friends everywhere we went who were more than happy to have us around for a little bit. We kept in touch and had them come visit us in NYC. I suppose it was our own little couch surfing community.

After my eyes were opened to how safe and rewarding couch surfing could be, I never went back. In Portland I had entire bands staying with me for weeks at a time. Its a great feeling when this stuff comes together, and the friendships can last a lifetime.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Greece in 2006. I was 28 and traveling with an 18 year old guy from my study abroad program. We wanted to rent scooters to tour Santorini, but no one would let us with our licences. Our waiter from the day before recognized us on the beach and asked how we were doing. When he heard of our dilema, he let us use his scooter for the day without even asking our names. We drove around all day without helmets in the sun looking at some of the most breathtaking views I've ever seen while screaming and laughing our heads off. It was truly amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmmmm. Dancing? Pinball? I'm not the best at these things but I could probably give some pointers. I would like to become even better so if there is anyone with the skills, please school me! I would love to learn about writing for animation as well.
