About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To get out there and travel cheap. :D
ABOUT ME
I'm a medical student at Cambridge. I completed my preclinical years in St Andrews, Scotland and I've come down south to finish off my training. I grew up in Toronto, On, Canada a fabulously diverse and multicultural city.
I speak French (not as fluently as I would like!) and of course, English. I love travel, learning about new cultures, and language.
And ask anyone about me and probably one of the first things they'll tell you is I love to bake. The second thing is I love chocolate. I hope you've got a sweettooth like me! If you want to have a look at my creations, I update my blog the Baking Medic regularly. It celebrated it's 5th birthday last month! :D
I have also recently taken up drawing. I prefer simple sketching with graphite and I'm just beginning to appreciate the rich and beautiful drawings you can make with colour pencil. :) At the moment, I mostly draw portraits (from photos) of famous people and animals. I love being inspired by other artists!
I also love it when I get notes or emails from people from other parts of the world and get to connect with them. So, feel free to drop me a message. :D
PHILOSOPHY
Take every opportunity you can. You only get one life, make the absolute most of it. And don't be intimidated by the achievements of others; be inspired.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Unfortunately, I can't have anyone surf on my couch at this moment as I live in shared college accommodation. However, if any traveller wants a guide to take them around the colleges (students can take guests in for free) then I would love to show you around. :)
If you do come to Cambridge, make sure you see King's College Chapel! One of the most beautiful religious buildings I've ever seen. Also come check out Emmanuel's duck pond. It's so serene and calming and the ducklings are just too cute if you come in spring!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
During my St Andrews years, I couchsurfed quite a bit in Europe. I have couchsurfed in Belgium, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia... and more! I've also done a bit of csing back home in Canada too.
One of my friends has couch surfed all over South America, alone and with another girl friend. To me, this speaks of how safe and reliable this community is.
The nature of my travels have meant that I haven't couchsurfed in a little while, but I'd like to get back into the cs community.

Music, Movies, and Books
I adore soundtrack music. Beasts of the Southern Wild is possible my favourite soundtrack ever! Most often you'll find an 8tracks tab open on my laptop playing some movie soundtrack or piano playlist.
I can't get enough of the Piano Guys!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I love long distance walking and I've adored hiking both the West Highland Way in Scotland and the Southwest Coastal Path in Cornwall. One day I want to complete the Camino de Santiago in Spain.
I've been backpacking around SE Asia. This was probably one of the most amazing an eye opening experiences I've had. It gives you both a deep appreciate for what you have and an appreciation for the differences in culture. Yet at the same time, makes you realise that we're all human! SE Asia is a crazy, awe-inspiring and humbling place!
I've jumped out of a plane strapped to somebody's front. It was fantastic, but it would take some smooth talking to make me do it again!
Lastly, as a medical student, I am so privileged to interact with ordinary people everyday. It's so important to remember that every patient has a story, has a family and most importantly is a person. :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn more about trust. Not just trusting your friends -- that's easy. I want to learn how to see the best in strangers and trust them, knowing that they feel the same about me.
Sappy, eh? ;)
