About Me

Widen my perspective, meet people who know how to enjoy life compassionately and creatively!

Nowadays I actually enjoy the so called simple life more, but for me it doesn't look simple at all. I want to be one with nature, with people and learn to enjoy every moment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new like-minded people, who respect nature and others. Life is made for sharing!

Went backpacking in Europe in the summer of 2009 for a few weeks, and had my first couchsurfing experience there, also met some random people who are active members in CS :) Met some great people through CS, unfortunately I've lived in multiple small cities since I've been a member in CS so I haven't had a lot of surfers over, but I've had a few and enjoyed all of them :)

Interests

Vegan lifestyle, sustainable living, saving the animals from suffering and the planet from destruction, music, festivals, friends, painting & drawing (hopefully more in the future), recycled material clothing, jewellery and artworks..

I want to learn more about energy treatments, chakras, etc and the spirituality related to these. Currently I try to meditate and practice yoga daily.

I've been interested in growing plants for a while now, flowers and edible ones, and now that I have my own house, I've been able to take glimpse into the world of farming. And I'm loving it when I can dig my hands into the soil of my own land.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently I mostly listen to electronic music, psytrance, psybient, ambit, chill, house etc..
But I love music, almost all kinds of music! (but I think there will never be no-one over MJ- the king of pop, but that's a whole other story :) [to name a few faves from bands and artists that I like: The Do, Fever Ray, Robyn, PJ Harvey, Teddybears, Kings of Leon, Lana Del Rey, Chase and Status, Pendulum, Olavi Uusivirta, Prodigy, Amy Winehouse, Sentenced, Deep Space Destructors, Ukkosmaine, Hammock, The Doors, Bat for Lashes, Björk, Chromatics, CCR, CocoRosie, The Cure, David Bowie, Morrissey, Radiopuhelimet, The Smiths...]

Love horror movies since child, and movies that can touch you in some way. My name-memory is so bad that I can't tell you the names of some movies that I like! (well, The Exorsist is one of those horror movies, especially if you are only 10years old and watching it alone in a hundred year old wooden house, spooooooky)
I've been watching a lot of documentaries these past two years, and I really like Cowspiracy, The ghosts in our machine, Earthlings, Forks over Knives, they really shifted my world view to a compassionate one! First, of course, after watching Earthlings, I got angry, but as the anger passed, my life is filled with love and understanding, and the desire to help those in need.

Currently reading Eckhart Tolle's The power of now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On the Canary Island trip I had snakes on me! I'm terrified of those creatures near me, and I did it!! Right after they took the snakes off me I fell into tears after the shock went away :'(.. The guy who was handeling the snakes asked me all night long if I was alright :)

They say you have to face your fears, and I did, but I'm not doing that again !! :D or actually, I just might, with my new view on life and everything that exists!

And I cured my monthly feminine pains with essential peppermint oil!

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been vegan for more than three years now, after opening my eyes to the lives of animals in factory farms and also I have been learning a lot about the destruction of our planet by us humans. I would love to meet people who are aware of these things and learn more ways of how I can make a difference. My inner activist has woken up! :)
I am really interested in people who have a passion for something. Now I would really love to meet creative and artistic people, as I am trying to awaken the artist inside me. I love to hang out, or more so, do stuff (almost whatever that is not destructive) with other active people.

I am learning more and more about natural medicines and cures, and how to live healthy with what nature offers for our use. Let's go berry picking together, wild cloudberries, raspberries, blueberries and lingonberries just around the corner! <3

I am currently active in two animal rights group, and last year I also made a charity calendar called 13 eläinkohtaloa meaning 13 animal fates to spread awareness about the injustice that animals face, and raise money against it. Currently I am planning exhibitions around Finland for the naked calendar pics. Check out more: www.facebook.com/13elainkohtaloa

At my house I can share vegan food and tips for cooking, information about animals and a bit about a sustainable lifestyle. Also you can enjoy the nature, and I can tell you a little about the surrounding nature and history of the place. Hope to see you soon!
