I just returned from a solo sabbatical through 7 countries in 7 weeks; I've violated the Endangered Species Act twice (once in the middle of the Pacific), and I want to be a mangosteen when I grow up.

Music, Movies, and Books

I live life like I'm the love child of Anthony Bourdain and Dr. Cristina Yang (rhyming is key). Jazz pianist who loves punk rock and edm. Regular watering holes include hipster bars, live shows, and authentic fooderies. But my cooking is usually better. Frequently seen at the reading/symphony/opera/theater, but I'd rather be floating in the ocean at dusk.

Books: I love all things David Sedaris, a good New Yorker nonfiction piece, and some classics (I've loved Fahrenheit 451 since 7th grade, Orwell, Munro, Audre Lorde, Murakami, etc). Bonus points if you've read any Leslie Feinberg, or Foucault. Just kidding about the Foucault.

Movies: Harold & Maude, Almost Famous, and The Royal Tenenbaums (Moonrise Kingdom is a close runner-up, I've gotta say). Dead Poets Society. Also Mad Max: Fury Road.

TV: 30 Rock/The New Girl, all things Anthony Bourdain/Top Chef, Grey's Anatomy seasons 1-10 (until when Cristina leaves and everything is ruined forever). Liz Lemon is my soul mate, and I want to be/marry Rachel Maddow when I grow up.

Music: angry classical piano-pounding jams, classic rock (almost everyone I've ever dated has some kind of resemblance to Bob Dylan), lesbian/feminist punk/electro/dancey stuff (The Blow, Dresden Dolls, Ani Difranco, kd Lang, Le Tigre, Mara Levi, and obviously Tegan & Sara).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a darn good cook, I play the piano/saxophone, and I love all pets.
