About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Help people tell their stories better :)

ABOUT ME

I'm Attila, 32, TED fan, Toastmaster, passionate about public speaking.

During college I volunteered for IAESTE which is a student NGO. Later I worked for IBM and Citi as project manager. Then I fell in love with public speaking, and I decided to build an online community where people can help each other to develop their public speaking skills.

I'm a non-smoker, I love to run and swim.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel the strong need to create something lasting. Let's call it legacy. I also believe that comfort zone is there, so we can expand it ... and through this "struggle" we become better.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This will be my first couchsurfing experience. I'll travel to Finland in May, to build my baby-startup.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far. I mean, back in college days I had some students visiting from other countries staying at me, but that was not strictly couchsurfing :)

Interests

TED, Toastmasters, pitch competition, startups, quantified self.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was member of a great student community, where I could contribute to the financial sustainability (fundraising...)

and we had a lot of fun together :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Quick guide to give a great presentation
- present, speak about a topic you are enthusiastic about
- be, or make yourself optimistic, smile before and during your speech
- rehearse, rehearse, rehearse!
- if you are not experienced with speaking on stage (e.g. body language) then your best option is to stand still, don't "dance" during speech
- you can gradually overcome fear of public speaking: first practice in front of mirror, then record yourself and watch it back (it will be weird first :) then invite over a friend and present in front of him/her, then 2,3,5 friends...
:)
