About Me

MISSION

2007-2018: I wanted to visit 35 countries by the age of 35. Well, I nearly doubled that target!

2018 onwards: That's enough of crossing items off bucket lists and rushing around. I've decided to slow the pace, allow myself time to soak in local cultures and get to know the everyday lives of people in the places I travel to, sample and relish the local food and drink, and make genuine long-lasting connections with a few lovely people along the way.

ABOUT ME

I am lucky to have a job that pays me enough to travel regularly (and one that gets me to travel rather often). But I'm much, much more than my job. Travel is a passion, along with all the good things that come with it: meeting new people from very different backgrounds, stumbling upon some fascinating places, learning something new all the time. Love to read, love to converse, love solitude and buzzing parties in equal measure, enthusiastic about spirituality and philosophy, amazed by art and beauty but I am no trained expert, will listen and absorb what people have to speak for hours and days.

PHILOSOPHY

Money can buy business class flights and fancy hotels, but one really needs to have their eyes, ears, and hearts open to really, truly, experience life, people and places. Nothing can ever be a substitute for a clean heart and a curious mind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a place to host in, but haven't hosted anyone yet for a variety of reasons (house located far from the centre of town, living with parents off and on, hectic travel schedules, and so on). What I can most definitely offer is endless travel stories, culinary skills, yoga teaching, and plenty of travel guidance on my home country India. If the stars align, perhaps I could host you!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to CS by a dear friend who used to host travellers from around the world. Through him, I discovered other hosts. And I was gaga over the endless possibilities of a very different, very authentic form of travelling and experiencing people and places.

Interests

Football (soccer to the Americans) - I'm a lifelong Liverpool fan.

I also love to cook!

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to pretty much everything, except rap/hip-hop. Have always been in love with classic rock and jazz. Energized and instinctively connected with melodic trance, deep house and the broader EDM genre. Mesmerized by classical music. Love books, especially those relating to history and philosophy (for non-fiction) and murder mysteries and spy thrillers (in fiction).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Accompanying a local, a native tribal gentleman, deep into the Atacama Desert, and experiencing the immense power of the vast nothingness and rock formations, and being absolutely spellbound by the incredible night sky. Oh, my guide couldn't speak a word of English and I don't know any Spanish - but we understood each other perfectly throughout.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a certified yoga and meditation teacher
