About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find me

ABOUT ME

Well I'm a 31 year old Irish female. I've just returned home after a long period of travelling and have returned back to college as I thought it was time to grow up (well at least try to anyay :) I've always had a great interest in how we human beings work, but never had the self belief to take it futher until now. I found that courage whilst on my travels and I've never looked back since. I'm currently studying counselling and psychotherpay and work voluntarily in that field. I love what I do and am looking forward to taking it further. I don't know what else to say as I'm worried about waffling on too much. If anyone wants to know anything please feel free to contact me.

PHILOSOPHY

Recently I have become so laid back. I know from above I sound a bit crazy but really I am the deepest person you will ever meet. You know when they say "the one's that seem happiest are actually the opposite" well it's true. These days I just live. I spent too long worrying about things I can't change and it doesn't get you anywhere. I always seem to get into the deepest conversation with people, sometimes people I bearly even know. That's another great thing about surfing you meet so many people in such a short period that you get to have all your favourite conversations over and over again. My whole life is a journey and I will happily spend it learning as much about me as I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately I can't participate as much as I would like too at the moment as I am not in a position to host anyone. I am however available to meet up and show people around (that should be fun seeing Dublin with the worst person in the world for directions :) I was a solo traveller alot when I did travel, so I would be praticularily interested in meeting up with people who are travelling alone, as I know how lonely it can get and hopefully soon I will be in a position to host again as it's the least I can to considering all the couches I've been on. I'm pretty flexible about activities, so if you have anything in praticular you would like to do here, but don't want to do it alone, just give me a shout.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been hosted on numerous couchas as you can see from my profile and I met some of the most amazing people along the way. I feel guilty that I can't host at the moment. I will in the future, but until then I would like to meet as many new people as I can. As you can imagine my first time was nerve wrecking. I was alone and didn't what to expect. I only discovered this site whilst travelling, so I've only ever experienced it from a surfers point of view. I did click with some people more than others of course as thats only natural, but everyone and I honestly mean this everyone was so nice and so accomodating. They went out of their way for me, meeting me, introducing me to family and friends, showing me around. I kindness was amazing and my initial suspicions of this site being too good to be true quickly vanished.

Interests

Anything to do with people and how we work Psychology, sociology, psychotherapy. Of course I love travelling and I think I always will. I love music and always have some tune running through my head, it's just a pity I'm completely incapable of holding a note :( I love spending time with the one's that mean most to me, my family and friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

At the moment I'm reading a lot of books on personal development and counselling in general, but it doesn't feel like a chore and I find myself reading the same material when studying and for pleasure. I love most types of music, if you got a hold of my ipod you would think you had me sussed and a completely unexpected track would come on and you'd be totally confused again. As far as movies go I like realistic one's. I'm not into sci-fi or one's that involve witchcraft or people flying etc. I like to watch a movie and think "yeah that could happen to me or someone I know" however unlikely it's possible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've come through a lot of emotional pain. It's no horror story and I know people have been through far worse than I have and come through it, but it was my battle all the same. I'm glad I got through it at a reasonably young age. I'll probably always be dealing with it to a certain extent but I've just learned to relax and enjoy life. I've stopped worrying about what others think and stopped trying to plan the future down to a T, because life just doesn't work that way. If I hadn't gone through it I wouldn't be who I am today.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well I'll start by saying I know I have a lot to learn. I am well traveled but still have so much I want to learn. I just love learning and you learn something new from everyone you speak to, it's up to you which parts you choose to remember and/or forget. I have had a great time in the hostels I've stayed in, but the problem with hostels is everyone is a traveller and often also a foreigner to the country. I've learned a lot about a lot of places, which is great, but I like to learn about the country I am actually in at the time, and the best way to do that is to stay with the locals. I want to learn how to be happy, teach everyone else to be and share it with the world.
