ABOUT ME

I play guitar, sing songs, read books, eat food, drink wine, smile broadly and laugh frequently. I'm smart enough to realize that I don't know shit. I love to have my mind changed: tell me why you think what you think and I will listen with fresh ears. Even when bad things happen to me, I'm thinking ahead to how funny the story of my misfortune will be. I am forever indebted to my parents & two sisters for their gifts of intelligent conversation, book recommendations, enduring optimism & remarkable understanding.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My couch is wide open but my location is rather uninspiring. When I return from Argentina I plan to live in Chicago proper and I cannot wait to host someone!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed a week in Glasgow on the couch of an old friend, sort of a temperature-testing toe dip in the couchsurfing waters. Come on in, the water is fine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Canoed the lakes between US & Canada for two weeks, saw a black bear at close range, caught fish by moonlight, gained a new appreciation for the diet of dragonflies and left behind nothing more than footprints.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach guitar. I can't show you how to play Van Halen behind your head, but I can make sense of a lot of things that someone should have showed you a long time ago.
I make a mean white bean chili.
What do I want to learn? Everything, really, but specifically anything involving music, language and/or being outside.
