About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make sure my first novel is a success now that I've sold it to a publisher who might be interested in the whole fantasy trilogy. You can find out more about that at audreygreathouse.com XD

ABOUT ME

I am imaginative, and high-spirited. I am absolutely ecstatic about the mere miracle of human consciousness, and it shows. I smile a lot, and am liable to roll around on the floor giggling if given the opportunity. I laugh when I'm happy, not just when something is funny. I'm highly motivated and driven, but in all the strangest directions. I'm going to be a professional artist, and I'm not afraid to put the effort and work into that dream to make it a reality. I am a dreamer, and a do-er.

PHILOSOPHY

Bring joy into the world. Lots of times that as simple as making sure I'm living a life that makes me happy and hoping to inspire others to do the same. I'm all wiggly-wobbly (being only 22 years old and all) but I like joy. That's my philosophy: joy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

From April-June of 2013 I traveled the west (Washington, Oregon, Nevada, California) on the kindness of the good folks at couchsurfing. I started out a nobody on the site, now I've had over twenty hosts, a handful of new friends, and not one bad experience! Someday I'll live with folks who are cool enough to let me host and pay forward the kindness I was shown...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Phenomenal. Wonderful. Fantastic. There are two really great decisions I have made in my life: one was to start writing, the other was to start couchsurfing. As a surfer, I have met so many different people in a whirlwind of hospitality and kindness. Every day is a new adventure couchsurfing, and I thank goodness for the opportunity I have had to do this.

Interests

First and foremost, I am a writer. I love to tell stories, write poetry, and pen science-fiction and fantasy novels. I have also played piano my whole life, and am training in the circus arts, hoping to someday be at a performance level on the aerial silks. I go to college online through SNHU and am a junior who takes heavy course-loads. I'm trying to get a novel published, and I write a couple of columns for literary sites. I want to do more traveling, because none of this ties me down to a physical location.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At the University of Washington there is a courtyard with more than a dozen mature cherry trees that blossom every spring. Once when I spent the night with some students on campus, we went down to that courtyard at 2am and climbed the rugged branches just to bury our faces in the silky petals, illuminated pink and silver by the full moon.

In San Francisco I stayed in a little Inn where all the rooms were painted conceptually by different artists. It was when I was seventeen, and I was hundreds of miles away from anyone that I knew. The room I stayed in had an old claw-footed bathtub, and after I soaked in that for a while, I got to curl into a bed that felt like a cloud, in a midnight-blue room that was painted over with a golden landscape of bamboo and marshes, a full, silvery, moon perennially hanging over the bed...
